Does anyone know wtf Avey is saying in Pumpkin’s Funeral? I’m working on a cover of the song (for an AC cover set I may be performing) but I’m realizing now I don’t have any clue what he’s chanting

the version they played on wnyc sounds like "please don't give me piano key"
the crack box version... maybe "pumpkin in the ground", something?

I've always just mentally interpreted the WNYC version to be "please don't leave me pumpkin" repeated in weird, avey-ish ways. the real lyrics are probably more obscure than that. wasn't sure if anyone had better insight into it than simply a best guess from listening, i doubt aveys spoken about the words anywhere. I hear "pumpkin in the ground" too

Good point, that didn't occur to me. i've always loved seeing similar lyrical threads through avey's writing. i'll probably improvise some mishmash of all of this
