Animal Collective (Avey Tare and Panda Bear) are set to play their breakthrough 2004 album Sung Tongs in its entirety for the first time in the group’s history. More artists and acts will be announced in the days to come.

the pitchfork article says avey and panda specifically, so i think it will just be them. i would guess they'll do a faithful but freeform/updated version of the songs, and it wouldn't surprise me if they don't do them in album order.
tbh, while i love the reinterpreted songs on tours, i am very excited at the chance to see just avey and panda go wild live. this is gonna be amazing.

Hmm!! Hopefully/surely NYC taper will be at this concert! It would be hard to tell this early whether there would be an official recording released either by AC themselves or by Pitchfork; but if so, then both recordings could be combined! :0 : )

I'm not going to be able to be there, as much as every fiber of my being wants to. Since obviously so many of you will be there, hopefully at least one of you gets a high quality recording of it lol. I wish it was being livestreamed or something
So do you think it'll be the original setup of guitars, a drum and a sampler or two? Or will they take the route of entirely electronic versions? I'm expecting them to use acoustic guitars and probably octatracks instead of sp303s (thats what's used on sung tongs, right?) though i'd be pleasantly surprised if they broke out the old samplers

Yeah I'm wondering abt this. I def get the impression that they're actually gonna try and play recognizable versions of the songs, with both of the dudes playing acoustic guitar, just based off the fact that this is being described as a full album recreation. But also I'm sure they'll change things up because they never 100% recreate anything, nor are they really able to. Then again if you asked me yesterday if they'd ever do a show where they play an album in its entirety I would've said never about that too, so who knows
I think you're right, most likely scenario is that they're both playing acoustic but the samples/electronics will be played on newer equipment
