The band condones audience recordings, it just depends on the venue. But seeing how MPP has hosted plenty of bands with audience tapers in the past, I don't see why it would be a problem

Also, sweet username

I usually just email the venue beforehand and they check with the band and usually give the thumbs up. I usually just bring a tripod and zoom handheld and keep to myself and no one bothers me. Security usually wants to see an email if they notice me after I have already set up. Hasn't ever been a big deal though.

It is purely on the venue. 2016 proved for me to be the most difficult to bring in absolutely ANYTHING. Always worth a try. Worst case scenario you take a lonesome walk back to the car and end up at the beginning of the line.

I usually bring a small Zoom recorder with me and I've never had any issues. Granted I always hold it in my hand with my phone as I'm getting pat down so they might just never see it.

most smaller venues don't care what you have as long as it isn't a weapon, drugs or alcohol. they don't play clear channel venues who would care about shit like people recording their experience for personal use.
