Suppose AC decided they didn't have enough cash to make it rain in da club and decided to release a greatest hits compilation. What would be on it?

If it was one or two from each album.

I agree with this list mostly, but I think WWIW?S and Water Curses would be essential!

An AC greatest hits would be such an awkward listen with the cut off transitions and everything.

Depends on if you include songs with transitions (but really I guess you'd have to, My Girls is in between two other songs with no gap)

I made a mix CD thing for my friend with this tracklist (before Centipede Hz was released):

Animal Collection (-> means I made a crossfading sort of transition from this track to the next)

1. Summertime Clothes
2. The Purple Bottle (with half of the normal bridge and half of the Stevie Wonder bridge)
3. Who Could Win a Rabbit ->
4. Peacebone
5. My Girls ->
6. Grass
7. Brother Sport
8. Essplode ->
9. Fireworks
10. We Tigers
11. Slippi
12. Chocolate Girl

If they did (and I highly doubt they would do this), I think they would just re-work all of their most popular songs into a similar style and release it as a greatest hits album called The Animal Collection.

yeah, i'm thinking a mix of mpp and strawberry jam + grass would be all it takes. the rest can be beautiful excursion music.

or Untitled in a seamless loop. Or Everybody's Whistling.

you can't really seamlessly loop those tracks though, they're not as static

it'd def. have all the singles and slippi!

it'd HAVE to!

but no it just seems too weird them ever having a best of

feels weird radiohead has one (not their choice...)

the 1 cd or 2 cd version felt so damn weird

and my other fave band SFA didn't do a "best of" just a singles collection

which eliminated any question of the song choices!

i think if youre doing 2's it should be choc girl/alvin row and if essplode,then /in the singing box

and if they dont have to be in pairs, panic could prolly fit nice somewhere

im going to tell you guys a huge secret.

i got into radiohead from the greatest hits. no joke. my bro bought it saying, "were gonna see em @ lolla, righ?" and i bought in rainbows soon after. greatest hits can be lame, but when the music is good it doesnt really matter. really, its a testament to the true talent of the band.

Before I had anmp3 player, I had a cd player. I would make my own copies of live ac recordings ranging from 05 to 12 compiled on one disc, and in my opinion, worked out very well. They key was to match the outro as close as possible with the intro. Of course not every song worked out back to back but hey worked for me ! :) but yeah defi itely do able and probably will happen one day...

I think it would be cool to just do an album that is comprised of songs from all their albums, although it would be tough to do seamlessly in terms of atmosphere / energy, they could re-work some stuff to fit.

everyones whistling
throwin' the round ball
Moo Rah Rah Rain
There's an Arrow
Summertime Clothes
Baleen Sample
My Favorite Colors
#1
Seal Eyeing
We Tigers
a little message for the fans "hey, animal collective here, we'd like to take the time to thank you for purchasing our music and being good fans for all these years, and uhh haha maybe we'll be able to play for you some day soon. Stay good, and HAPPAYYYY"
Winters Love(w/ kria and abby and other close friends)

not exactly from all their albums, and stuff from multiple albums kind of ruins the theme even more. Oh weeeeeelllllll.
