They played NYC multiple times on the Painting With tour. They don't typically do one-off things as a "whole band" since they all live in different places. Geo kinda let the cat out of the bag about something they did early this year in a "remote location" that has yet to be released (likely related to that instagram post from a director in Brazil who said he had just wrapped shooting with AC early this year).

Could this be related to the mystery "remote location" project?
Is this a live session for Avey or Pandy's solo album?
What does it meeeeaaan? (it means I am going to NYC in the Spring, I guess)

i think they are just gonna play a set. who knows wat will happen since thats a while down the line. only panda has talked about solo material . maybe we'll get a deak geo and avey thang but even then panda has worked and done shows during AC album cycles

Hopefully I wasn't being fooled but a fan who spoke to Dave at Big Sur said that he has already started writing for his solo project and that Deradoorian is on at least two tracks.

Yeah I think this is probably it. If they had any shows booked in the spring we would know about them already, right? But I think the DJ sets are usually announced with shorter notice so that's probably why we haven't heard about this one yet

I know this is shit tier but I'm glad to hear this as the last I'd heard, they'd split up, or at least it sounded so from an interpretation I read. Does it matter? Do I need to know this? No, but I am glad to hear that Dave isn't on his own.

they could just be doing a one-off live show as a special favor to this venue because it's in Brooklyn... I doubt it would be a DJ set since that doesn't seem like a good way to inaugurate a venue, and it's unlikely to be part of a tour

hyped new 2000 person brooklyn venues don't announce big acts as their initial bookings and have them turn out to be dj sets (unless they're dj's)

Aside from a few likely international shows, Lennox said there are no plans for “any major [Animal Collective] tours” next year.

No major tours still doesn't rule out a Brooklyn show so you could totally be right. It's possible that they could do some more U.S. shows, plus the international shows mentioned there.

I guess I just got the impression from that interview that things were winding down and that they might switch to solo album cycles pretty soon. I hope that they keep touring at least for a bit since there was no pre-album tour this time around, and the shows are only getting better, but who knows.

This year's spring tour dates were announced right around this time last year, so hopefully we get an announcement of some more dates soon

i think theyll play some reg stuff! itll be kool to see what happens...

anyone gonna go to the NYE dj set at brooklyn bowl? starts exactly at the new year which is pretty cool.

it says "with special guests" which I assume will be eric copeland and then some electronic brooklyn based guy i've never heard of

Seriously contemplating doing the driving out to the NYE DJ set since there's nothing good going on in Chicago this year.
Plus Kamasi Washington plays before them, which would be sweet to see

I just can't understand the logic of taking several months off and then re-starting the Painting With tour. Especially given that they already toured with this material for almost all of 2016 and they played this material in NYC several times already. I would be stoked if it was new stuff but it doesn't seem like there would have been much time to work on new stuff, especially given that we know Panda/Avey have been writing some solo material during the tour breaks in 2016.

pretty sure they toured for more than a year on chz. i also think that the initial pbvsgr shows occurred in the midst of AC touring during the chz cycle.

Mini east coast tour may 2017. Bizarre 6 month gap but being billed as continuation of PW, so it is unclear if we can expect anything new.
