New To AC Boots, What Shows Should I download??

Hey guys,
I've been an Animal Collective fan for awhile now, since Sung Tongs. I've seen them, and Panda Bear a bunch of times, and I used to have a small collection of live shows which I seem to have misplaced. What's amazing about AC is how different their songs are every show(my favorite is when Noah did I think I can/Chores)

Anyhow I know there is a whole thread dedicated to boots, but I wanted to ask y'all what you think are the best shows AC/Panda(sound quality wise, and set-list wise...I would say enthusiasm too but they always bring the enthusiasm!) I just want to know where to start..so maybe top 5? 10? 15? Thanks!

Here are some of my favorite shows, mostly because of the uniqueness factor:

AC:
Glasslands '08 - incredible 30-minute piece of unreleased material that they've never played again
Noah's Ark '04 - Panda/Deakin set of mostly unreleased untitled material
Other Music '04 - more unreleased songs from Sung Tongs era
Bowery Ballroom '04 - really dark versions of Feels/Sung Tongs tracks plus "Sponge Luke" which was never played again
La Fondation Cartier '04 - really awesome noisy/droney versions of Feels tracks, plus a great "206"
Melkweg '07 - classic boot of early MPP/late Strawberry Jam era

Avey & Kria
First Unitarian Church '06 - great quality boot with four unreleased tracks and "Foetus No-Man" with vocals, probably the most comprehensive Avey/Kria recording - I recently posted a split track version in the boots thread for this one

Panda Bear
Together '04 - set of unreleased material with Rusty Santos

You'll probably want to get all of the radio sessions as well because they have near-studio-quality versions of more unreleased tracks and updated versions of old songs

I recommend Noah's Ark 04 too - has a really nice slow version of Remember Learning How To Dive.
Oh and the live Tonic 2002-2003 set with a bunch of stuff from Here Comes The Indian etc.

i would also recommend 2004 columbus for personal reasons as it was my first animal collective show and it was the first time i had smoked mary j in a long time so it was really intense. it cuts out at the last song but it's still 50 minutes of my favorite feels set. i also recorded it.

mpp? i remember really liking the NPR show in 09

it's been at least since before aug 2014 because that's when i had to get a new hard drive and when itunes indicates as "date added" for all of the music I imported immediately.

2004 france has the closest thing to punk ac wil ever do with that version of dystw or white antelopes and i honestly think thats som of their best material. listen to me. all of the feels material sounds like its being played by a different band since the strange guitar tone is distorted beyond all belief. itis also much different than the other shows too. I'm going actual punctuation for this. For two shows in 2004 at the beginning of the Pre-Feels tour Geologist was not with them, so it was a Deakin - Panda - Avey line-up that brought us these crazy versions of the songs and Ice Cream Factory repurposed as the strange "206" with the line "I'm a frank people people person" which leads me to believe it was rewritten in some sort of druggened up stupor lol. The tone in 206 is brought to many places (energetic and crazy, tiquid and DYSTW, noisey and noodly with flesh canoe and Daffy Duck, which is probably the quintessential "Laughing Ducks" with that beautiful fucking climax. If Daffy had that climax and My Fav Colors at the end of it, I'd actually wager that Feels would be a perfect album.)

The most unchanged songs here are Tiquid and Loch Raven, though as probably all boots listeners know Tiquid live and EP are different albeit they have played the EP rendition in a 2005 recording and they probably played it more that haven't been booted. The entire show brings a specific feeling to me, these strange gaseous humanoid fellas, playing twisted and fucked up love and pop songs and it's beautiful. It's not trying to be dark or edgy or anything, but because of, well everything that's going on it just seems so beautifully delirious and fuckked up! The momentum of the set is PERFECT as well, the entire thing building upto THE PURPLE BOTTLE, and I'm not gonna lie and say it's the best Purp Bottle or BBB of the era, but wow. Even just seeing the transition with the sustaining drone from the Flesh Canoe that sounds absolutely nothing like the album Flesh Canoe (it sounds demented) you know some crazy shits about to happen. The vocal effect avey uses that he uses throughout the era but is specifically highlighted in this one is honesty Residnts level of bewildering and really shows the marks of early AC - it seems like early to Feels AC is strange but you can see it all over these 2004 shows. Also, this has one of our only recorded pre-album Bees until they finally started playing the finished version like 11 years after it was released (Thx PW tour haha) still waiting for them to do that with Cuckoo Cuckoo...but...

Anyways I could write on more but this show is fucking amazing. Grab it. Also for the era get Artsplace 2005 Empty Bottle for anotha white singer and electric winters love, Bowery Ballroom for Sponge Luke (SHOULD'VE BEEN RECORDED. ALL ILL SAY. ONE OF THEIR BEST SONGS AND I'M NOT EVEN TRYING TO BE CONTRARIAN.) and the soundcloud cats cradle for a good ass recording. the feels era is endless amazing shit so just download fucking everything. its all there.

huh. i recorded artsplace 05 and i didn't think it was nearly as good energy/vibe-wise or sound quality-wise as the wexner center one. wexner is my fav ac show i've seen. the venue is my favorite. it's like a smallish room but with a balcony, all black, and the best sound system i've heard. black dice opened. ac was beyond intense.

.....

2nd question: i'm sure i've asked before: what's the best strawberry boot?: sound quality is important: soundboard?

the paradiso one I posted is a go-to for me for the reverend green version alone. Malta 06 is awesome and was the one that I listened to the most at the time:

this entire post is true but i like your point that the studio versions of fickle cycle, my favorite colors, and tikwid are virtually useless. mfc especially was never played live separately from daffy duck, and fickle cycle was generally partnered with grass (tikwid i guess floated around a little more). i think that notion of companion songs was sort of unique to the feels era and while i understand that they just wanted to get everything on tape (206 Image :shobon: ) those songs don't make much sense outside of their context. like i prefer live versions of people but at least i understand the studio takes, it's more in the safer/street flash/graze/crimson tradition of large-scale songs that end up not fitting on the album but still make sense when fully realized
