hey my frends...I KNOW U BASTARDS HAVE DONE DRUGS B4...haha

this band draws some interesting stoned reactions cuz of the innovated and one of a kind music they make

i wanted to make this thread because loch raven touched my heart one day...getting stoned with my friends lying on my friends futon in his house, my two other friends were sleeping and we had neon genesis evangelion on the TV but im pretty sure it was on a DVD menu since none of us wanted to put in the next DVD (my friend has the plat collection)

i was listening to loch raven and it touched me man. it was already one of my favorite songs but i could hear the synth line so vividly. it was so beautiful. every lower pitched growling noise felt so reald and by the end of it i was so sad it was over even if it felt so long. i think i counted every time the synth line looped lol. i love these guys man

P.S. we all kno ac arent directly connected to drugs..yadda yadda...drugs r lame...but they still bring out some of the crazy AC moments. not so much :metal but more... :mmhmm: :cawg: :drugz:

I would love to take a load of drugs and listen to Animal Collective but I would probably trigger a nervous breakdown or something and shit myself trying to piece reality back together with a copy of the Tao Te Ching, Calvin & Hobbes and some Walt Whitman. Actually, that sounds brilliant let's get the drugs in lads.

Animal Collective makes drugs better

Whenever I'm feeling anxious while high, popping on some Animal Collective almost always helps calm myself down

It just compliments the music ,,, but boy does it !

Psychedelics are just meant for AC ....

Its like you understand their music better ... you just know ...

Drugs are great mmkay , but there is always the boundary or line ...

Between addiction and not being , something im glad to know now ...

Taken responsibly can really produce wonderful effects toward a person ...

Missued , and can find yourself in a spot of trouble ...

Theres always two sides to everything , but no regrets for anything in life ! Yolo yo :drugz:

Taking MDMA and listening to AC with some good friends is a beautiful experience. The way you can navigate through their world on drugs is mesmerising and amazing. Some of their songs also take on a completely different character. Kids on Holiday always becomes something totally different to me on MDMA and psychedelics.

psychedelics and animal collective is the right of passage that every subversive sophomore in college who smoked salvia once while listening to here comes the indian and called his dad crying to tell him he loves him and thanks him for everything and then proclaims IM OKAY, DAD. I PROMISE.. DAD IM OKAY, I JUST KNOW and FEEL the BEYONDNESS OF NOW

I don't really take drugs anymore, but back in high school and college I was super into it and had taken just about all there is to experiment with. I've had substance abuse problems with a LSD, heroin, and alcohol at certain points in my life, and not to mention smoked weed and cigarettes every day for almost ten years.

I think listening to music is what made me get into drugs. It's like there's this level of perception that you really want to have when listening to stuff that you can only get through drugs. I mean it's definitely true. It's almost night and day. It's transfixing and constantly intriguing. It's beautiful. Animal Collective's music really fits into that discussion because not only is it texturally and tonally pleasing, but it also plays with expectations, and is super interesting/creative process wise. Listening to AnCo on weed or psychs is definitely the best. When MPP came out me and some friends took L and listened to it on repeat for the whole trip. I feel you about Loch Raven too, that song is a miracle man.

To anybody thinking of experimenting with drugs to listen to AnCo, just stick with weed tbh. If you wanna trip that's fine too, just don't do it too much.

That being said, now that I don't really take anything anymore, music is approaching me from an entirely different angle, and it's just as rewarding as it was when I was chasing that drug induced perception. In retrospect, my best memories of listening to AnCo are because of the friends I was with, not the drugs I was on.

listened to tomboy, panda bear meets the grim reaper and painting with on acid the other night, all incredible experiences in their own ways but the highlights were: all of tomboy; mr noah, boys latin, come to your senses and ***tropic of cancer***; and floridada (wow!), hocus pocus and the burglars

Been a while since I've tripped. Would love to get back to it again soon. Not that it's something I'm particularly experienced in, but I remember listening to Fickle Cycle on LSD several years ago and being really taken by all the feels era stuff for weeks after. It's difficult to put into words, but something about the experience left me feeling really in touch with the emotional content of that album. Something about the texture of the guitars from that era is so amazing.

Gotta get some psychs for the new LP.

I smoked weed for my first time during quarantine and listened to Sung Tongs, Feels, and MPP in a row. It was incredible. But when I went to to turn the record off, I remembered that I didn't even have a record player. So where was the music coming from??

When the growling voice is mixed really high in the old live loch ravens, that’s cool

AC were my first experience with the type of attention that I have while on drugs, almost like they were the first drug I did,, anyway their magic has changed, somewhat calcified, recontectualized exactly the way drugs do

I got very high several nights ago and walked around listening to the 2019 boots and Passerby made me weep like an absolute baby. This is more a "me getting hyped about the next LP" post rather than a drug post, just didn't want to bump that thread too much without actual news lol.

The end of Passerby is really tragic sounding. I used to avoid listening to it cuz it brought up too powerful feelings for me. I really feel for Avey sometimes, I feel like he goes thru some dark passages, but then again he manages to find a bright light too, like the end of "Cherokee".

One Thousand Percent agree with you on the attention part. The variety of sounds you can pick up in their mixes blows me away. I heard some quote saying that: "Life is what you give your attention to." I try to remind myself to focus when I'm listening to music that I value. Eyes closed, no screens, no other obligations. My favorite thing as a teenager and in my early 20s was to put on an album on headphones as I was going to sleep and let it take over.

Attention is so important! :weed:
