Has anyone had any success trying to mimic the sounds effects used during that era? Fever and delay for sure, but I can't seem to find the right combination to get that same texture!! I absolutely love that sound so much and I just wanna jam :pwn: If anyone could point me in the right direction it would mean the world to me!!!!

On read on a tab somewhere that they use this slap back delay ..and fever lol... I meant reverb ... The studio album is rough, so I'm really going by the better live recordings ..like the show they released ..omg I wanna jam that my fav colors and go into like banshee beat hahaha .. But ya its been tough finding that sound

tremolo, fast delay try like 3 feedbacks as loud as the guitar sound, esp for songs like fickle cycle and did you see the words, banshee beat the first guitar is just a really loud slapback, also dont use a pick, no distortion whatsoever, when you think about it the feels guitars really just sound like someone micd up an unplugged electric git and put slapb trem (really short and really loud verb too?/). also it helps for the sound on the record that the piano is kind of meshed in with the guitars, im p sure they would have used the same effects for the guitars on the piani on som parts, anyway experiment, also the slackness of low tuned guitars really helps too

honestly I just use the open e tunings and use a fast acting delay and it sounds pretty close, at least to the live versions. the delay also helps to detune it a little so it gives the same feel as the album

Josh used whammy pedal on Daffy Duck, not sure if he used it on any other songs, possibly Fickle Cycle and Turn into Something

I’m fairly certain the delay (or at least one of them, sounds like perhaps two or more delay units per guitar were used) is an Electro Harmonix Memory Man. A few years ago Avey posted a pic of a beat up one, wish I could find it, but besides that, if you’re familiar with the Memory Man sound then it’s unmistakable IMO. Been a while since I’ve gone down the Feels guitar rabbit hole but IIRC I though it sounded like there was one faster and one slower. Like for a starting point I’d set the mm to line up with eighth note triplets and another delay to like 500ms. That’s what the beginning of DYSTW sounds like to me

fast acting digital delay, relatively low feedback but high wet:dry ratio sounds like the bread n butter to me
