I'm hoping they'll retire Flowers and No More Runnin by the time I see them. they've been playing those for too long and I don't think they sound at their best with this current set-up

also hoping they'll replace them with some more deep cuts like Screens or Applesauce

I keep wondering if they'll drastically change the sets before being done with this US leg. I mean I'm thinking no, tbh? Been so steady.

And I'd say Flowers, NMR and even Reverend/Bottle can't last much longer, but maybe they're pretty set on those being the oldies of the tour.

I also wonder if they're still like mixing the Skiffs 2 songs and thats why they're dead-set on playing Defeat/Magicians/Genies at basically every show

But like... when are the new new new songs coming you know. Do they exist in this set up? Or......? I imagine they can just keep this set-up going given that Deak and Avey can switch it up whenever by getting on guitar (or panda given Soul Cap). I wonder if they will linger in this zone instrumentally speaking, or if they just think thats against their nature and are all gonna show up with like acoustic guitars and gurdy to first European date.

So anyway ya, its super exciting to think that this era is already old. But also maybe a little awkward that they feel like they can't move on yet and might be almost ready. Either way tho they seem like they're loving the vibe, so don't mess with a good thing, I guess.

p.s. I feel like first time they have a big break between tour legs is when things might get changed up significantly

for the PW tour they added different oldies at different legs of the tour (though that tour was also spread over like a year and a half). I think the lil break they have before coming west would be a good time to mix up the set a bit

NMR and FRG were both played at the last show I saw of theirs in 2019 and Flowers was a staple last fall, which is why I think NMR and Flowers seem stale already. FRG I would never turn down though

saw them a bunch on PW tour, while they changed it up a bunch it wasn't by more than a few songs (retiring Golden Gal, introducing Taste and Sweet Road)

I said this a while back but if they keep this setup there's no reason they can't do anything they haven't done so like Banshee Beat, Fickle Cycle, etc. all seem like fair game or at least should be!! I'd love to know why they couldn't do them other than by choice. Even though the thing has mostly always been playing the new stuff the fact that this setup has stuck for long means they could really expand their reprtoire and just play like a lot of songs from all over the discography which would kind of be a new thing in itself for them.

I'll also say though as much as I want like drastically different sets night to night finally seeing them twice on this recent tour a few nights apart I was incredibly satisfied with how different each night felt when there were still a lot of similar songs in the mix so maybe I'm just being greedy.

You forgot my 2nd favorite rework after Sweet Road, the PW version of Water Curses was so massive and unexpected, I want to see Cobwebs/Street Flash/Seal Eyeing brought back as well or a FBK track like Graze or I Think I Can. The Kids on Holiday they were doing during PW was also colossal and I hope they rework more ST I would love to see Leaf House I think they would make it a huge banger.

After seeing them live a few times this leg of the tour I'd say In the Flowers and NMR are great live experiences but no recording could possibly capture the live performance so I see why it's not very exciting for people who are listening to recordings. That being said I'd drop them in favor of old old reworks any day of the week. Can we get a Turn into Something? That could easily be the new closer

Wait wait wait... I hadn't realized... But what are they doing in April? No dates? Like is that their first break? Well if that's over a month off then I bet that really increases the chance the set changes a good bit for may?

Tbh I don't know if EYE am ready for them to move on yet. Saw Nashville and have tickets for may too but if they somehow pulled some crazy shit and changed the set up by then? Would be so wild..

I'd love a Turn Into Something, esp if Fickle is gone for good :/

But yeah PW ended up being kind of insane for reworks/old songs. I mean it started with friggin Alvin Row and the return of songs that sat chz era out (loch Raven, daily routine) but eventually was just all over the place with ark and ST shit etc

Idk if something about that set up made that easier or what. Meanwhile chz era's oldies focused on the big obvious singles of prior 3 LPs (bro sport, summertime, peacebone, bottle etc.). And a couple recent EP tracks from wc and fbk

They're def holding back on any PW era songs or like loosies from around then like Man of Oil. So if yr interested in more post 2010 tracks, just make sure u clap extra hard for Applesauce and Screens

I really want Graze into Dragon Slayer for full medieval. But I can see how they might want to avoid sample-reliant songs.

But if I’m being really realistic, I think only a month in between where they won’t have too many extra rehearsals, if any, means the setlist won’t change drastically. Maybe one new surprise like Chores and Screens was.

I was there for the debut in Union Transfer in Philly and it's a hard show to top, I had only been a fan a few years so to see Alvin Row was a bucket list item I'd never expected to be fulfilled but that show rolled out new Daily Routine, Jimmy Mack, Hounds of Barrio, Loch Raven and they just kept coming. They played Bees at UT but I remember being a little underwhelmed until a couple shows later when they brought it back with that massive bass line at the beginning

^oooooh yeah buddy, I was at that exact show, it was crazy. No body could have made those calls ahead of time...I forget if I heard Jimmy Mack there or at Irving Plaza... but I mean yeah every song that wasn't a PW song felt like an insane reveal cuz I think almost nothing from the also very comprehensive CHZ era set lists showed back up.

I think when they're in more sampler heavy mode (multiple 404 or a 555) they do Spirit, Ark and ST songs and when they're less sampler heavy mode they draw from Feels and SJ more. And either mode can do MPP songs

But um uh idk give Deak a 404 or sumn, and then they can play all 237 of their songs

True but then Native Belle showed up with the first post-Music Box Skiffs build in '19 also. Anything remains possible. But yeah Spirit or Ark (or ST but can't picture it) is probably the holy grail of a oldies deep-dive pick this coming tour. I don't dare dream of Danse

I mean they fucking absolutely should do a Danse song rn. There's some kind of weird kinship b/wSkiffs and Danse in terms of this super vague barely-there-but-there "jazz" energy. I dont think I'm imagining that. Danse and Spirit vibes in general seem really accessible and adjacent to the Skiffs sound palette..

In the Singing Box would slap shit and people would mosh even if some thought it was a new song. That, Round Ball suite and/or Penguin Penguin would be revelatory.

Gimme a like... strait forward recreation of Chocolate Girl, a reinterpretation of La Rapet, or some of my Danse pics, k thanks AC c u in Denver

Speculating about potential live cuts is my favorite because pretty much any song would be exciting for me and we can just entertain ourselves for hours coming up with whatever. I’d explode if the next show I saw opened with Rain In Cups from the ether of sound. Bat You’ll Fly make me cry. Any Manatee or Water Curses cut would be perfect for this setup. Kinda Bonkers would also fit so well and be a blast

feels pretty unlikely to me but would be sick to see the guys do more full band renditions of material from their solo releases, like the way they played comfy in nautica in 2009. so much good material they could draw from. it's funny though, when you think about it, isn't all AC material just full band renditions of their "solo" work? most ac songs are pretty distinctly panda/avey/deak songs at the end of the day. i'd be curious to know if there's ever been an interview where they talked about any combination of the guys sitting down and writing/jamming together where the product was equally like a joint effort

I agree with everyone that many additions is unlikely but I can’t help myself when we talk dream stuff like this.

…oh god imagine a full band Jackson 5 ….

And yeah, most songs clearly generate from one member and remain that way.

Debating in my mind about this show. Would be almost an eight hour drive. Can someone time travel and assure me know that the setlist will not be an exact copy of First Avenue show?

5 hour drive for me -- there was still a lot of songs from Skiff tour pt 1 that weren't played at First Ave to make it worth it in my op.

With a two-month gap, I have faith at least one or two 'new' ones will make it in the rotation (new meaning old, but maybe we'd get lucky with a new-new post-Skiffs 2 song, just seems unlikely since there's already enough material from Skiffs 2 to play and promote).

reflecting back on previous tours, and looking at the live recordings in this sub for confirmation, 2011 pre-chz tour there was a six week gap between legs where they added taste to the setlist, and 2013 post-chz tour they added a whopping 5 songs during a six week gap between legs: did you see the words, purple bottle, i think i can, what would i want sky, and bluish. so i think it could be anywhere from no new additions to a handful of new songs. but also both of those tours they were playing the same exact set every night till they added the new stuff, whereas this tour they have a pretty good size pool of songs to draw from, so maybe they won't feel the need to add more stuff to the mix during their time off

Yeah I'd wager there is a verrrrrry good chance (if not totally for sure) they add like 1-3 songs...

40+ days off? And I'm sure they meet up a few days before the next leg anyway, so it just seems like a pretty obvious move.

Flowers was so hype live, I loved it last week. But it must die now. Other obvious big party anthem tier songs that could easily replace it could be WWIWS or Summertime. I don't really want Summertime per se since its relatively common since Bearhug first showed up in 07, but it would be a very different Summertime I think, with this set up. Hmmm

Ehh, doesn't really read like that to me

(I haven't seen her perform,) obvs she's a pretty intense person but I think she's just saying what she saw and wanting to encourage people to be more engaged

Well this fits with what I was picking up on Nashville. Poor lady... they fuckin rocked but she must be bummed or fatigued with how she feels they're being received or something (which is odd, because I know I loved them, and the crowd seemed 2 like them well too so idk).

I can't find the song they made that made me weep and then no one remembered to clap for (because we were all fully shook/weeping!?) so I'm guessing its unreleased but maybe I just need to dig deep.r
