I was just thinking about the song footy by deakin and how it reminds me of the song cuckoo cuckoo... and I thought to myself.. it seems to me people rarely ever bring up the song cuckoo cuckoo by AnCo.. ..
For how amazingly good that song is I'm surprised I don't see it more on lists, referenced more, or just talked about in some way.. Pardon my ignorance if it was considered to be really popular or a favorite in the past but I have only started following the band since 2009.... Being a super fan since then I rarely heard it talked up... In my opinion Cuckoo Cuckoo to me might be the number 1 most underrated AnCo song of all time...It has everything you could want from a classic anco track....I wanted to go with Rosie Oh or Derek.. but I have seen good things said about those songs way more often than cuckoo cuckoo... which is really surprising.
Again I could be wrong about this and it could have been a fan fav in the past so let me know..
What other suggestions/opinions do you guys have for the most underrated anco song ever?

cuckoo, mr fingers-->kindle song, flesh canoe
live chocolate girl is my favorite thing to come out of the 08/09 shows and i don't see it talked about very much. the intro to it is one of the coolest "dreamy" sections they have in a song and i love how everything gets kinda off-kilter during the chorus and leads up to that scream

I agree with Flesh Canoe and Whaddit I Done?
I'll add Sweet Road to that list
Live Chocolate Girl definitely got a lot of love back in 08/09. I don't remember nearly as much praise for the reworked 2009 Winter's Love, but I guess that's fair because I don't think it's as good

thats a really really good call imo.. such a brilliant song that is rarely brought up..
plus that chord sample played throughout the song from "all together now" by the beatles is so cool especially if you love em.

For me, it's probably Lablakely Dress. I love every version of it, it's quintessential AC in terms of sound in both electric and acoustic version. It's dark, primal, erotic, with a very AC lyric. It's like being very deeply in love and lust when you feel almost suffocated and overwhelmed by longing and respite can only be found for a moment, deep inside that one person.

I never even knew that about Unsolved Mysteries! In a pre-PW interview Avey said that Strawberry was kind of their Beatles album, which I think makes sense.

father time seems like it gets way too much h8. I really dig that song.
I will second whaddit I done. I see that song get a lot of hate but I don't think any other song on sung tongs would be better closer.
something about whaddit is super nostalgic and makes me feel like im 4 years old playing with my ninja turtles action figures.

softest voice I think is misunderstood. Maybe I just think that cause I never "got it" until I heard this live version

I can agree with Whaddit I Done? and The Softest Voice...Softest Voice always having been one of my favorite tunes. But if I was to chose one that hasn't been said, I'd have to go with Seal Eyeing.

damn these live versions are soooooo gooood!!! especially flesh canoe ohhhh man sooo effing good! kind of reminds me of daniel johnston a little bit.
i first thought lablakely was just some intro for fireworks they do live and was addicted to that opening.. for a long time...I would keep replaying that intro (where they do lablakely into fireworks into essplode and back into fireworks)... it wasnt till later I found out that its its own song... so good

Running the round ball! And throwing the round ball.. That song sounds like crying as a little kid and being loved back to normal by your mom

The thing about this is there's so many it's almost pointless.
Cuckoo Cuckoo is one of my top ten favourite AC jams. As mentioned, The Softest Voice is one of my favourites off Sung Tongs but gets comparatively little love. The percussion in April and the Phantom is underrated. Songs like Seal Eyeing, Throwin the Round Ball and No More Runnin are often easily forgotten. The list goes on.

mercury man.
...or is it? i don't know what people like anymore. i recall it not being overwhelmingly popular during the chz days, but it's probably my favorite anco song other than Essplode and maybe Safer.

Stan is 100% correct with lablakely dress. It fits seamlessly in with every era they've done it in. Danse, Hollindagain, sung tongs, mpp
And SpaceAnimal there is no way unsolved mysteries samples the Beatles, nobody can sample them

absolutely fuck yes to those who have said cuckoo cuckoo, unsolved mysteries, no more runnin, and the softest voice. these songs are simply incredible and don't get talked about nearly enough.

PEOPLE!

it had SO much hype in the feels days wondering where the 3 or 4 out-takes would ender up!
but barely any talk or love SINCE then?
when you think about it... People / Tiquid Liquid / FICKO SYKO ... such insanely strong feelser bees!
I also question always wonder how baby day ended up as this strange odd man out sung tong out-take!
backed for rabbit!
of by not FOR the rabid rabbi tit!
