... you replaced good lovin and whaddit i done with Don't believe the pilot and Always You, respectively?

I feel like after we tigers the album completely falls flat, because the build of energy to that point is perfect. I think even tacking pilot and always you onto the end would be great too. :boo:

Good lovin is a beautiful, beautiful track and is one of the highlights of the album

I feel like whaddit I done could have been a bit more stretched out, sort of like the end of mouth wooed her.

That being said, It's a near perfect album and I wouldn't change a thing.

I mean, sung tongs questionable track listing is what keeps it out of the top 5 for me. To so consistantly build momentum and then end up ditching it like that is just a weak way to end IMO

On its own I don't really care too much for it, but in the context of the rest of the album I always kind of liked Whaddit I Done. Its not their best closer, but it always felt to me like having some kind of hangover after going through the journey that is the rest of Sung Tongs. I like that feeling it has personally, but I'm sure others probably hate it for the same reason.

That being said, it would've been cool to see Pilot somewhere on there in addition

Yeah, that's an excellent way of putting it. i don't really understand the "gaining energy" thing, we tigers is the energetic climax of the album. I feel like everything after it is so drunkedly woozy

Whaddit I done is not some traditional end of album banger, and being only a few songs after We Tigers and at the end of an album that starts with Leaf House I can see why you'd want that.

Whaddit I done for me is a completely transcendental ending though, maybe my favourite AnCo album ending. Sung Tongs is a journey through blood, bones and ego for me and then this song is ascendance into a non judgemental state of mind in a peaceful void. A crazy way to end a crazy album.

I really appreciate the other viewpoints ITT, had never really thought of it that way. I personally like Always You better as an ending because it's got the visiting friends vibes, and is just sort of a beautiful long ending to a beautiful album.

I like pilot on the album too, and covered in frogs would be neat, but I'm not sure where I'd stick them. I lsitened to ST with Pilot and Always You tacked on the end and pilot felt too energetic after whaddit i done

tbh maybe Tigers > Mouth Wooed Her > Good Lovin' > Always You > Whaddit

that way it doesn't feel so anticlimatic

I'm pretty sure I said the same thing. I Guess some people either love the last two tracks or don't like them at all. Don't Believe the Pilot is one of my favorite ST era tracks, i'm just sad it never made any official release.

Pilot, Frogs and Always You are a bit 'straight'. Maybe Kids on Holiday is the closest to them but there's nothing else as 'songy'. WCWAR covers that base, but with greater intensity and weirdness. Same reason that Sleeper Factory wouldn't quite fit. That said, I absolutely worship them all and they're partly why I adore this era's bootlegs so so much. I also went through a very full on phase of Dublab Always You when I was out in China. Whenever I was feeling the sensory overload, it was always there to annihilate that anxiety, it's just so intense and relentless.

not rlly right thead but o well... speaking of changing sung tongs tracklist:

chz if they had decided to record it quicker, or do things like the pw cycle and record it before touring...:

Today's Supernatual
Wide Eyed
Father Time
New Town Burnout
Monkey Riches
Mercury Man
Gotham
Honeycomb
Rosie Oh
Crimson

and then an accompanying ep like they usually had done instead of a single/b side of...

moonjock
applesauce
pulleys
amanita

that would mean theyd have to like go bak in the studio just to record the ep so this hypothetical is very hypothetical but still, thats a reeeeally bad ass ep right there. and i actually kinda love this tracklist for chz with the order the same as the way they were playing it live at first except for switching TS and wide eyed cuz i think ts is a better opener. gotham, honeycomb and crimson on the lp would b prtty sick...maybe i shld move this to general ac idk...

i actually kind of think that playlist is genius tho, and i don't usually go in for alternate tracklists.... i think CHz needs it though. sequencing may have been its fatal flaw.

o woops lol, no that was a mistake. i knew it looked shorter than it should...

mad respect for FT. but ya feel like this whole thing works for me flow-wise.. if anything wide eyed is maybe a bit odd as 2nd track but i kinda feel like 2nd tracks always hve awkward flow issues actually..

transitions are good... and i think its pretty fine the way it is, but when i look at this it almost seems more appealing. and its just being faithful to the first set of '11 shows when they did the same set every night for a bit (exept switching first 2...). feel like those shows/combination of tracks have a notably different vibe as a whole than the actual album/4 added tracks. love the added tracks but they would make a crazy good ep together also

but then there's also an alternate timeline mpp with graze and from a beach on it and that ones way more like "whimsical" than it even alrdy is.... i have trouble making that one tho cuz of the issue of 2 first tracks (flowers and graze) and not being able to drop anything from mpp as it is now to make room..

if transitions were the best part of the album, what would even be the point? a couple of key ones are preserved anyway, like NTB/Monkey Riches

maybe if this timeline had happened, moonjock, applesauce, pulleys and amanita would have become avey solo songs, and they woulda been combined with the DT tour songs to make the most incredible hypothetical /alt timeline album of all time. like ya those 4 tracks seem very much like AC/full band tracks but like idk fun to think abt..they woulda ended up different of course. also that would work cuz i feel like amanita is like meta abt the band in a way? just for the hell of it tho....
Spoiler: show
1. jerome
2. moonjock
3.in photographs
4. sometimes/mountain song
5. applesauce
6. mist/slow words
7. pulleys
8. amanita
9. death raga

this album would be fcking insane

super far-fetched obvs but i guess im saying ill nvr b over those dt songs, they r the new from a beach but its like a whole ep worth. guess we sorta ended up getting fab/maya tho..

ya i know, like moonjock and applesauce and all the new songs rlly are essential, this is just something i might listen to for a different vibe/flow. those 4 songs written after the initial ones are prbly my fave on the album, applesauce and moonjock are top 3 with mercury man..

i prefer the album to start with TS, and the intro voice works great as the intro to the "EP"

i also think track 2 is perfect for Wide Eyed. really feeling this. inspired work Diomedes. :monocle:

CHz was basically just too long and ehausting, and also too many different vibes. this shortens them and also separates them into more thematically/sonically coherent groupings. it's also nice having sweet tracks like Rosie Oh and Applesauce come later in the overall sequence as a nice bit of uplift and breather from the heavy stuff. having them early makes u think that's what the album will be about, and then it's a lot darker and more wrenching stuff with very little daylight.
