or SOUND ... rather

according to (garp) THIS:

http://www.catsupplate.com/releases/710.html

Can's “Aumgn,” and early Amon Duul with doses of your classic stream-of-consciousness pop songwriting a la Incredible String Band and Ray Davies. But there’s a very modern take on all these influences going on in Danse Manatee, one that isn’t summed up by their psychedelic forerunners. To paraphrase one review of their last record (which would only be more appropriate in regards to this new one), it makes Kid A sound like Britney Spears.

haha!

maybe since it was actually SPIRIT that made KID A sound like SPEARS

we could rather say DANSE makes AMNESIAC sound like AARON CARTER!

or possibly Papa Roach!

RDJ shares a similar opinion:

Your music has been hugely influential. One
of the more prominent musicians who’ve
said that they’ve been inspired by your
records are Radiohead? Did you listen to any
of their last two album "Kid A" and
"Amnesiac“?

RDJ- I don’t like them. I heard maybe five or six
tracks and I thought they sounded really
really cheesy.

Cheesy?

RDJ- Yeah, really obvious and cheesy. I mean I’m
just comparing it to my favourite music and
I think it’s terrible compared to that. But
compared to all the shit boring R&B tracks
it’s probably alright. Compared to those teen
punk sort of bands or whatever they are
supposed to be called, who think that they
are really anarchic and stuff like that, they
are probably amazing. If you’re only
exposed to that kind of stuff and then
Radiohead come along you will probably
think that they are geniuses.

I remember showing a buddy of mine in high school Two Sails on a Sound. We'd bonded over Kid A but he found it unlistenable. I remember thinking "No! That vocal effect is just like Kid A (the song)".

sometimes based off that one quote from avey on the old board about how radiohead just made him think of depressed college kids if like maybe avey's objection/rejection to radiohead's depression/complaint-rock vibes helped kind of steer some of ac's early sound?? avey was like fuk u radiohead, u think thats experimental?? u think that's dark??? get real.

of course this cant be the case tho... and hey avey like pyramid song
