On the old board Geo said some mixed things.
Geo heard Bowie was a fan of theirs and even made it to an AC show. Bowie couldn't stick around for the whole show bc of being older and having a family
Geo had an anecdote about a friend running into Bowie in the bathroom while Bowies music was playing and thinking Bowie couldn't take a piss without hearing his own music. More innocuous than that, really

Geo also respectfully mentioned David Bowie wasn't his thing

I have that weird feeling where bowie was heavily into indie at the time (trying to keep up with the kids!) ... arcade fire... tv on the radio... the animal collective! ... it was 2006/2007/2008!
tears for fears were there too! (but later) [they went head over heels for my girly girls!]
as for checking out bowie?
as said... ZIGGY & HUNKY DORY (and LOW I suppose! i'm not a fan!)
but once you get a sense of the early stuff... and want to REALLY go into it...
check out 1. OUTSIDE ... and HEATHEN... and EARTHLINK!
I too am afraid of americans (GOD is an American) [i'm afraid of god! on god? you devil!]
bowdie!

His persona is so well established I'd hardly be surprised if it were actually a prank by another member
That's really nice to hear Bowie was a fan. Same with Björk.

Let's Dance is an unfairly dismissed album. I find it so much easier to approach than most of his work, and I don't see how that's a bad thing.

Well, I wouldn't go that far... Low is a masterpiece.
