I love it TOO!!!
Moonjock --> Today's Supernatural --> Rosie Oh --> Applesauce is my jam!!!

And Amanita (the live jam is so awesome!!)

And I always used to scream along with Monkey Ritches (when it was called Knock You Down)

Still and always will be jammin' to Amanita. That's their best work in a while, in my opinion of course.

It clicked for me when I picked up the lp. My player is old and occasionally speeds up the records I listen to. It's not a noticeable amount, but it does feel different. Also, I have a specific EQ I use only for CHz to bring out the drums. Mercury - Pulleys - Amanita is my current favorite side.

probably my second favorite behind strawberry jam...maybe i have some kind of sentimental connection because some of the first AC I listened to was the live boots from the spring 2011 tour

I'm still on the Centipede 100 wheel band wagon too!

This album really started to grow on me last year, as of right now, only Feels and Spirit surpass it in my opinion.

Amanita, Moonjock, Applesauce, and Wide Eyed are my favs.

Can't believe it's almost been a year since I first heard this album, probably 5th or 6th favourite AC release, but it's still incredible.

Best songs for me are Applesauce and Monkey Riches.

after almost one year i can say that this is my favourite AC album (with the extra stretch of crimson->gotham->honeycomb between father time and new town burnout).

Not my favorite album but still fun. The 2nd LP is so good! My biggest gripe is the lack of Panda drums. They don't pop the way they should on the recording. All of these jams sound great live. Also, how much fun was the radio podcasts?! Such a cool idea and interesting way to experience the record.

I think the first radio podcast was the best. Can't beat the Nic Cage Samples with random snippets from TV, movies, and video games. Those podcasts made my Sunday nights.

the first time we heard todays supernatural on pandas radio transmission was insane. i remember thinking the mixing was so strange and aveys voice sounded totally different

^ yeah I remember the first listen to that song was super weird, in the best way possible. I thought his voice sounded crazy. thanks for reminding me of that. it was a really great experience after loving the live song for a year and a half

Moonjock: instant classic, 10/10.
Today's Supernatural: always great.
Rosie Oh is a majorly underrated Panda song, it's one of his best.
Applesauce is bangin'.
I still don't care about Father Time. For some reason it reminds me of dinosaurs.
Wide Eyed has the coolest intro/outro on the album.
NTB / Monkey Riches holy shit holy shit.
Mercury Man was better in 2011 with the motion-activated Halloween decoration vocals during the bridge.
Pulleys is WAY better live with the Scheherazade jam.
Amanita doesn't do anything for me. It's like an overblown remake of What Happened, without the fun a capella bit. I like the winding-down effect at the very end though, it makes me sad.

BONUS ROUND

Honeycomb: instant classic, 10/10/10.
Gotham / Crimson: don't care.

MAN i love Gotham, those background vocals (is noah right?) singing "i keep trying..into the dark.." and the last line about dave leaving nyc are so beautiful to me

gotham is great, yeah, but i do like the original lyrics better

"the whole thing falls apart and we're attached but just in little bits"
gets me

its "into the light, thats passing through night" and its Avey

according to lyricalcollective is "I will keep trying into the night that's passing through light" but thats ok for me

also, there some odd changes on the final lyrics and the ones before the album:

"It's your choice to be there on time" is now "It's not my choice to be there on time" and "I need my Tylenol" became "Don't want that Tylenol"

Avey's name is actually Dave

My favorite part of Gotham is the transition in the middle where Avey screams out "its not my choice to be there on time" three times. This moment reminds me of my favorites on strawberry Jam or something.

"Just let life give you denial" is avey's best feel moment since banshee beat imo

I keep forgetting about Honeycomb/Gotham even though i like them more than most songs on CHZ, because it's not part of any album or EP.

i already get a buttload of nostalgia from this album. i remember the hype and the mysticism together forming something really special. my bro had fallen off his bike and jacked up his knee so i was over at his place a lot helping him out when the album stream happened and i remember me and my wounded lil bb bird bro listening to the primitive rip we made while in hospital waiting rooms. i remember buggin out about the "concept" of this record and totally understanding the visual/artistic principles (like that wacky cover and title!). then i reconnected with this friend and the album became the soundtrack to my feels for her. she swanned out and i felt guilty for having physical feelings about her and i'd listen to the album in my room and think about her (vinyl had come out by then). man. this is one special title in their catalog, and i'll never think otherwise.

Definitely agree with the nostalgia thing, it was my most anticipated album ever at that point and when i hear it I always think back to the day i came home from school to put on the album with the visuals and the day i went into the city to buy the album.

CHz is hitting me so hard today. Major feels. It's taken this long to get to this point. Mercury Man - Pulleys - Amanita is blowing my mind like I'm hearing it for the first time. Those were my least favorite songs last year. Maybe I ignored them. Love this!

Amanita is still kind of weird to me. 'Imagination falling around' is such a weird un-selfconcious lyric.

But yeah the album is great and I definitely look back really fondly to first hearing it. Its a pretty surprisingly intense album in terms of the level of emotion on most of the tracks. There's something about it that really seems to connect with my days as a young 'un, moreso than their other ones even. I think I can safely say that I like it more than my old fave, MPP which is kind of huge. Though I still might think that MPP is a 'better' album?

The big descending riff going through the end of Mercury is so amazing and somehow embodies what I love about the album so much. Each song seems like its own individual character, even more so than MPP does.

to me each song is similar, moreso than any other AC album. MPP was like this too. Feels and SJ were like a completely different sound-concept each song

Really? To me, feels had a really consistent sound throughout each song on the album!

I think to a certain amount, all AC albums have some recurring sounds/vibes throughout the entire album. Strawberry Jam and maybe Sung Tongs in my opinion are the only 2 animal collective albums in which the songs didn't feel similar. Also, I don't see that as a bad thing, it gives each album a consistent feel which differentiates it form other Animal Collective albums.

Yeah I agree with this! It's not a bad thing!
I think feels is maybe their best album!

It is definitely a good thing because they keep the sound/production consistent throughout the album. It seems like many AC songs would fit on different albums if they changed the production of it.
