I've always liked the lyrics to Bluish.
More specifically, from Turn Into Something
"rooms can get lonely but that don't mean / I want a son who can float and fly / I'll take a daughter who laughs and cries"

"you think you'll carve a path through new york to be an artist, but are you anything?"
from a live version of safer:
"don't make your problems my funny problems because i've got problems but i cover them with lies"
all of banshee beat
all of amanita
all of moonjock

flesh canoe is just heart-wrenchingly beautiful.
especially the "I'm just wondering what to do with you myself and me
Naked in the mirror of the bathroom" part. so sweet.

I read in an interview that Flesh Canoe was about Noah, who didn't even know until Avey told the interviewer.

yeah i really love the "I pluck a few notes on the strands of your hair" line. it's so cute when you think about how that song is actually about Avey waking up with his arms around Noah sometimes!

Heard that Bros was mainly about the American lifestyle Panda left (I think that's what I read)
Anyways, Cuckoo gets me every time.
"And I can't hold what's in my hand
Don't do any good to say this isn't what I planned
And little kids sliding down the steel park slide
Little kids can't play with things that have died
Sometimes all I want is one favorite song
And two to three minutes don't seem so long
And where's my mom I want to hold her tight
She's so far away from crowded nights
I'm going cuckoo cuckoo
We're all going cuckoo cuckoo"

Cuckoo hits me in the feels as well..
as soon as he starts saying "How I lost my boy" in the intro

I finally see a baby girl,
I'm sorry April, but you'll be fine 'til then,
I'm the Phantom,
I'm the Phantom,
I'm the Phantom,
And I sneak around, and you're on top,
A frenzy April, let me write it down
I'm the Phantom,
I'm the Phantom,
I'm the Phantom,
And in the end, your mother knows,
I'm sorry April, but a child grows
I'm the Phantom,
I'm the Phantom,
I'm the Phantom,
I am...
Watch me as I lead the way
From infancy to grown up babies
-Phantom, please put on my make-up!
I am breathin', I'll keep callin'
-Phantom, you're all white and naked!
Have your baby, I'll keep callin'
-I'm not right, I'm not fakin'!
I am burnin', and I'm shakin'
-April, no, it's just a spirit!
I am there, end is nearin'
April and the Phantom
They were just like lovers
Always sneakin' kisses for the weekend
Everything's just okay with me
Everything's just alright with...
April and the Phantom spoke in secret code
Until they buried Phantom by the road
Everything's just alright with me...
Everything's just alright with Phantom...
Kiddy has got no friends...
Kiddy has got no friends at all

Get your head out from those mags and websites who try to shape your style
Take a risk just for yourself and wade into the deep end of the ocean

These too. When I first actually "listened" to this album last year I got all upset because I was like "Is Panda Bear talking to me?" before realizing these are probably songs to himself. Good shit.

favourite lyrics probably come from penny dreadfuls
"Everybody came down just to see me leaving / Baby take my hand now can't you see I'm happy
When the story's mine I think I'll tell it different
It's a shame to hear the sound
When the penny hit the ground
And I want to go back home
When does this bus leaveā

sounds like ghost of books...
random tangent, what does the title ghost of books mean? was kria super into books or something?

I remember in that long interview with Abby for Down There, Avey mentioned that he liked old books (because they ended up surprising him more than new ones or something). Not sure if that helps. But yeah, the song itself is almost definitely about Kria.

What are you gonna do?
Go into the forest
Until I can't remember my name
I'm gonna come back and things will be different
I'm gonna bring back some stories and games
Really brings me back to when I left my best friends (basically my only friends) to go to college, then got depressed and failed, and then recovered and told the stories of how I survived my first year. Besides that, I really like the way Avey delivers these lyrics.

On a highway
There are some workers pissing
It starts my bladder itching
Can I wait for the exit?
....
but seriously
every line in April & The Phantom
and Bluish
Derek
I hope you get over your teething
It's not easy when you feel sick
He had a sprightly walk you'd like him
When he'd keep up along your side
Wrap your peckers what he told us
Me and mike looked at each other like whoa what was that then
beezz
The bees, the bees, the bees, the bees, the bees, the bees
Rehrehrohrohrooo
and everything you guys already said
and more of that will come.
(btw, (off topic) m listening to Honeycomb/Gotham while writing this, and it's like for the first time I really hear how great these two songs are, I always liked them, but..)

speaking of gotham: "is my ficus fine? did you give it too much water?" that line struck my right in the heart when i first listened to the 2011 boots. and also the "to live with someone in the heart of nowhere" lines that didn't make it on the studio version of mercury man.

The room is filled with men and coke
And I don't break 'til midnight shock
Are you feeling warm tonight?
Turn it down? Well, I just might
The room is filled with ancient apes
Where I've been and what I ate
Before I'm asked to throw them out,
I play with every little doubt. [these last two lines are super hard to decipher, imo]
The room is filled with gummy bears
Electric shavers, ingrown hairs
I keep the curtains high enough
You sleep on cotton, rest in fluff
The room is filled with catalogues
Encyclopaedias, books enough
To keep me busy in the morning
Sun sets fast without warning
The room is filled with cords and plugs
Electronic translucent bugs
And what's that crawling all around?
What's that twitching, is it still alive!?
Is it still alive!?
IS IT STILL ALIVE
