This is a web site dedicated to, which we all can agree on, to the best band to have ever grazed this fine place and I feel like we owe it to them ! I mean, we're all here for a reason, we all have the same feelings toward the band. Let us express them. How do you feel about the band ? What do you love most about the band ? Why are they so awesome and why can't we ever be as cool as them no matter how hard we try ? Everything and anything is open for discussion, just no hatin' :mmhmm:

Me... I love the AC because their music is too perfect for words, every song is truly unique and has its own special in my heart, as all of ours. Their lyrics sound like from another dimension, a place where peace, love and psychedelia come together as one and reign over all. The band's continual habit of changing and making different sounds, constantly keeping us on our edge to see what they're cooking up next ... I can go on forever, BELIEVE ME, but what do you guys have to say ? We're listening ... :)

An accurate statement. Their transitions into other songs is some of their best work I feel like. It's unlike anything I've ever heard of and it always draws me back. I love it. Like I was listening to Kids on Holiday through some head phones this morning and the way the sun rose up and everything was perfect and their sound scape, if you can call it that, very much added to the experience. This is my crack pretty much.

I was just gonna write a little paragraph about why i love AC but i got a little carried away and thought of more things to add. This is probably a mess because its 1am and i wrote this very quickly but hopefully it makes enough sense that you guys can relate to what i'm saying.

Firstly, I love how the majority of their material really rewards intent listening and concentration on all the layers and sounds buried in the mix but is also extremely enjoyable when listening casually, i feel like there's not a great deal of music that work so well both ways.

Also, one of the most dangerous and saddening things that can happen to a band that is particularly good at making music more on the experimental and sonically adventurous side is when they try to reach a further audience by throwing in more “pop” elements and getting rid of a lot of the challenging aspects of their sound and in the process, losing what made them so special in the first place. The thing with AC is, yes they did become a lot more accessible, but it seems like a very logical progression that gives the impression that they didn’t make their music more digestible in order to reach a larger audience, it was just an aesthetic choice based on what music they actually wanted to make. I believe that AC have achieved this transition better than the vast majority of other similar bands have, as later AC releases are just as good/interesting as their early material and it doesn’t seem as if they lost anything special in the process.

When you think about it, it’s pretty crazy how Animal Collective have made such drastic changes in sound with pretty much every release, without making a disappointing album (obviously in my opinion). You’d think that a band as willing to experiment as AC would have at least a few missteps in their career so far but the quality and ambition of each album shows how incredibly dynamic and talented they are as musicians.

Another aspect that makes Animal Collective’s music so great and replayable for me is how Dave and Noah’s vocals complement each other so perfectly, because their vocal styles are very different, almost opposing, which adds a lot of contrast and dynamics to their music instead of making it too chaotic. Plus the fact that they’re both at an incredibly high level of song writing skill and the fact that the combination of Panda and Avey written tracks add to the scope of their albums and work so well with each other instead of upsetting the flow of the album is something that really stands out for me. This is not even to mention their amazing textures and samples that make each album have a life of its own, which shows that the chemistry between the individual members is top notch and makes it obvious that they’ve been making music together for a very long time. The fact that they can achieve this so prolifically, often making brilliant but markedly different albums within the space of a year is just ridiculous, and this isn’t even mentioning all their solo albums.

I guess a short summary of what i think makes AC so great is the brilliant songwriting, textures, samples and rhythms all combined beautifully to make such fantastic and unique music.

Beautifully written ! I couldn't agree more.

Animal Collective keep pushing the boundaries when it comes to really mind melting sounds, or in other words, new ways to listen to music, as they would say. I mean how many bands do you know that change their sound every album ? Pretty rare, if not, uncommon, but it's an effective method which is why I believe they've been gaining a lot of reception too. They were electronic when they started out with drums and synths, and had a good following pre merriweather, so you add all elements together makes for a successful recipe, which has been. They are in the height of their career, and it's only getting better for them, they are living it. Which is so glad to see to because they totally deserve it. Who woulda thought 10 years ago they would have the success they are having today ?

I find this really endearing and true. While a lot of bands can write cool melodies and a lot can make interesting sounds, I haven't experienced a band that could make the production a part of the story telling melody as much as AC can.

Entitled to your own opinion, but CHZ just grows on your mind so much. Still fresh and soncially different from their other albums.

I love AC because of their emotional content. Songs like Cuckoo Cuckoo, Banshee Beat, and Alvin Row are just so rich with emotion and passion that it just floods my mind and body with euphoria.
