1. A contemplative, quiet 1.5 minute intro track. Piano, vocals and SFX. Vaporous and distant, with quiet fog vocals and twinkling keys.
2. Mostly piano and vocals (+ background vocals from Superflower) until 1.2 minutes in when we get a squiggly beat, and then violia & cello which ascends into a momentary loud stack of instrumentation before stripping it back again.
3. A beautiful instrumental jazz piano song with lots of background chatter, dreamy saxophone, distorted vocals.
4. Feels like the whole thing kinda floated into this song, which is the jam. The most grounded and pop of the bunch, with a steady beat and upfront vocals. Great lyrics, great melody, great song.

Since I haven't had a chance to actually listen to the EP yet, can anyone tell me if any of the "new songs" that Avey has been playing on his recent tour come from Fast Lea other than Fast Lea itself?
He's definitely been playing Fast Lea, as well as Are You Coming Back? (which isn't on the EP), but there's another "UNKNOWN" song on recent setlists that I have to wonder if it comes from this EP or if it's something entirely new.

Enjoyable little release, wish it was longer. The title track is probably the most exciting thing here, I like it way more here than on the recent boots. I want a whole album of piano and string heavy Avey songs. Costume Jewelry is a fun little song too, I like the lyrics. Hope we get a digital release soon.

Honestly Fast Lea is one of the more refreshing things he's done since maybe Eucalyptus was released IMHO. Not sure why but it reminds me of Call Home/Buy Grapes and I Am Your Eagle Kisser era stuff but it doesn't sound like those at all.

totally agree big time, such a good track. This EP is a gem, so spontaneous and interesting. Gotta say his recent work has been either overthough or just meandering, this is excellent

Thanks for sharing, your EQ work makes it sound more like a digital copy, more full sound. I'll be interested if the original rip from preakness is how it will sound once the digital is released or if that sound is more an artifact of the medium (tape)

My guess is that it's an artifact from the tape. My EQing was essentially boosting the mid-highs by a dB or so. Cassettes really attenuate those higher frequencies.

I found the Superflower in v0 so I converted the flac and made a nice little compiled split EP, if anyone wants that
