Anyone know who "Sugar Cat" is? That's what the Mothlight page claims is the opener... maybe it's just Abby dancing around...?

he was sitting in a stool playing a guitar with so much reverb over it you couldn't hear individual strums on it, but he was strumming very fast most of the time so what resulted was basically a powerful droning sound from the guitar. he also had one synth, a drum machine and probably some sampling/looping mechanisms. very ambient and spacey at points but also very joyous and peppy at others. not a dull moment. sounded like feels+down there. feels down there ;)

the single closest release i can relate it to in sound would be tape player chants for winter

it was a really good show. It started out like spoogn described, then for the majority of the set it transformed into progressive, dance heavy songs transitioning into each other. Think of the vibe of the dancey stuff they played at dj sets but with avey singing. Really hope he records and releases some of it, every song was amazing from start to finish. Last song was cemeteries to close it out.

thanks for recording this, that is really cool of you

oh no my bad fov!!! i meant the "no but yea" just as a continuation of my posts from before, not as a response to the question u asked, my bad coming off as rude :( i hadn't seen your post until after i'd made that one. fully support crowdsourcing money for dance avey dance to follow the boys around and give us all the bootlegs we'd ever want :)

and yea i forgot to mention the parts of the set yaava mentioned but that was maybe the coolest part, around the middle/end of the set there were these songs with these heavy dance drums and the muffled guitar over it and the melodies avey chose were +++

the super droney guitar is best in the second song u literally cant tell its a guitar at all

excited for you guys to hear this set!!!

Show was NUTS. Apart from the first song (reminded me of Campfire Songs!!) and Cemeteries, the entire set was full of groovy bangers. Sounded like a natural progression from the Painting era.

I'd call it Avey's Grim Reaper; mixing clean, clear dance production with Slasher-style guitar and a whole lotta delay, sampling. The song starting around 25min reminded me of Flying Lotus' "Computer Face / Pure Being"

I'd love to split the recording up into songs for their titles alone. Judging by the lyrics we have songs like "Happy Family" (featuring some Acid Wash-ish guitar around 9:45), "Eyes," "Uncle Doughnut," "Baby's Not Home," "Disc One," "Step in the Worms," etc. etc.

Someone at the show mentioned he just moved to Asheville so here's to hoping this becomes a reoccurring thing!
