the clip that starts at the 16 second mark has been getting stuck in my head quite a bit... "better off lately, just doing better off now"
gimme a full finished version of that. back to back on the album with panda's comes and goes.

I'm almost sure the boys are ready to kick it into full band mode again. Noah hinted that acoustic drums might be back, Deakin seems to be hangin around more and Noah and Dave both had guitar-prominent records. Maybe we will see Dave and Deak on guitar, Panda on percussion/samples and Brian doing what Brian does. I think their next record is going to make people outside the fervent fan-base remember them again.

I want DownDownDownDown to be on the album in a short version, and I want it to be a 10+ minute ambient jam live

Like how Shadow of the Colossus was a 40+ minute jam in some PBVSGR shows

No matter what they do it will be totally unexpected for me I am sure. The boys always seem to cook up something completely left-field from my intuition. I am just gonna wait and be surprised (painting with really surprised me in a great way)
Also just a friendly reminder if they play new songs this year live, the album versions will more than likely sound very different/have a different vibe/different lyrics. I try to respect each version for what it is within that context
I see too many people wish for things with this band. They are truly psychedelic in the sense that once you dose, you aren't quite sure what will happen, you can't predict your exact future thoughts/feelings before the trip. You know you are gonna go on a ride but its very hard to see the destination/places you go. But you know in the end it will be a good fun ride and its best to just let that carry you.

I just hope it will have the same feeling of wonder and openess as was displayed at the music box village performance. There they showed something that I missed for such a long time. I don't care about their choice of style, if it should be more or less acoustic, what instruments they should use or w/e. From this place all AC-MAGIC can HAPPEN.

I awoke from a dream this morning where AC dropped a new album out of the blue. It was just called TALENT in all caps. I think the first track was just the middle section of Defeat but with Panda harmonies. The rest just seemed to be instrumental tho lol.

We have a bunch of demos and the new material that we played at some shows last year in New Orleans, and we’re hoping that’ll progress to us having a lot more new stuff to work at. It’s just a matter of organisation, and getting everybody in the same room. We’re playing Desert Daze in California in October, and we’ll be thinking about playing a lot of older stuff, because it’s the tenth anniversary of ‘Merriweather Post Pavilion’ this year. Hopefully, that’ll be the thing that lights the fire under us and sets us on the road to something new.

I think he previously said that 'Our Little Chapter' was written around the same time as the Music Box stuff. The newer Genghis Cohen clips sound pretty different from that material so I feel like they could be going anywhere.

I remember him saying that it was written around then, but I don't recall him mentioning that it potentially indicates the new AC direction...maybe I missed that part of it when he mentioned that in earlier interviews

This is what he said in the AMA.

I have no concrete info on any of that unreleased stuff. I'm happy people seem to be excited about some of those songs. I can tell you i wrote our little chapter while i was also writing Defeat and the other songs we played at the music box which i play juno on. We will be working on some of that stuff with noah now but i have no info beyond that.

Venue in LA where Avey and Panda played a private/secret show back in February. Panda played a normal Buoys set and Avey played all new ideas that he said might turn into AC songs. Here are some super short clips taken from instagram stories - [dropbox]

I think at this point it's just a matter of waiting. I'd guess the album will be Q3/Q4 2020.

Glad to hear that panda won't be "staying out for a minute" like many speculated.
Our Little Chapter is a pretty juicy sound. Not the most interesting track but if that's where the new album is headed in general and avey's in full juno mode then hell yeah. can't wait to see the juno back on the stage if they really are celebrating MPP's anniversary. Since he called it "a" juno, i wonder if the original is toast.

try to listen to Defeat once every 4 5 months or more if possible. First time in while. It's insane and beautiful and makes me feel things.
I love this band more than anything in the world.

I'll indulge for the thread purposes...
I've always thought a live performance like this would be awesome - imagine if each member had multiple setups that they could switch between depending on the needs of the song/song suite...they could open with a sampler heavy couple songs then switch to more Feels era instruments....and then break it down for a few with just Avey n Panda...then bring everyone back for some other kinda run
I feel like I'm sorta describing a much more conventional performance than they usually put on, but I just dream about a way that theyd be able to play (for example) Feels songs on acoustics or sneak a merriweather song in when they have a more guitar oriented setup...(actual example being like how they'd do chocolate girl with samplers during the merriweather era)
if anyone else knows what i mean and can imagine them doing this, what kinda cool things would you enjoy them busting out?

I'd love to hear them do Leaf House in that MPP-era style again. That is one of my absolute favourites from those boots. Perfect amalgam of both styles.
