Don’t think I’ve seen this mentioned yet

Josh Dibb and Brian Weitz have been playing music together for almost three decades, mostly as Deakin and Geologist within Animal Collective. As a duo they like to stretch beyond the band’s song catalog, working together on multiple film scores and occasionally improvising together on piano and hurdy gurdy.
Edit- also playing Oct 20 at the Compound in Baltimore

Wow, it's wild that they're playing Rhizome. I would absolutely be there if I hadn't already agreed to something on this date

Yeah that one really caught my eye cause they're opening for Alan Bishop's new band! I immediately got tickets. What a wild lineup.

I'll be at the Compound show. Great venue, my band recorded our album there a couple weeks ago. Deak & geo will be cool but I'm insanely excited for that alan bishop project

The show at the Compound last night was incredible. One of the overall best nights of music I've seen in awhile. Alan Bishop actually took the stage during Deak and Geos set and sang while they were jamming, which was just an astonishing thing to witness. I'm having trouble putting it into words rn, but I found out about SCG through reading AC interviews... two of my absolute favorite bands, few others have had as much impact on the way I think about music, creativity, and more. The significance of it all feels difficult to truly communicate. Also Deakin sang what seemed to be a new fairly fleshed out song at the beginning and end of the set, which was really beautiful. Already feels like one of his best.
@ was an amazing and beautiful surprise, just gorgeous songs.
Dwarfs of East Agouza... probably the best set of the night. Feels like the closest I could get to experiencing SCG live today. I was spellbound. Just wild, hypnotic dark magic happening on that stage.
Wish I could have stuck around to maybe share a friendly word with my heros who were all so casually hanging out, but we had to get going. I know I saw at least one person recording, if anyone here has the boot pls share.

Who is this Alan Bishop fellow? The way he’s being talked about I’m very interested to check out his music

He was the bassist and vocalist for the band Sun City Girls, who have been name checked as a huge influence on AC by p much all the boys at some point or another. Their discog is huge and confounding, but most people agree that the album Torch of the Mystics is the best place to start.

Torch of the Mystics is unbelievably good. One of my favorite music moment memories is doing donuts in my car in the Utah salt flats with all the windows rolled down absolutely blasting Space Prophet Dogon

Love The Compound... that show was great... pretty full! Actually had to leave early so I missed Dwarfs but was excited to see Androgynous Bulge and @ for the first time. Good peeps. And of course loved the Deakin+Geo set. Was wondering if anyone else from CA was around on Friday lol. I shouldve worn a shirt that said ask me about collected animals.
