Predictions 2023

Seems like 2023 will be a big year. What do folks predict for releases, tours, news, etc.?

I'll say . . .
Avey releases Rainbow Bog solo album on January 13
Double single of Gem and I + Broke Zodiac released in March
Sea of Light LP announced in April [Genie's Open first single . . . unknown track second single]
Panda releases Sinister Grift in May
Sea of Light released in October [with an EPs-worth of material still leftover]
Panda + SB announce early 24 release in November
Buncha solo shows + Gator Pools jams . . . no AC shows [but announcement of small spring 24 tour]

Maybe too optimistic . . . but

Next LP will have a one-word title
Sinister Grift will have a song literally called Jacking Off or Love to jack off
New Deakin tunes

Maybe a few one off shows but no tour until 2024 feels right

Q1 - Avey Tare - 7s
Q2 - Panda Bear - Sinister Grift
Q4 - AC release (EP or album)

hopefully an AC 12" single somewhere in the first half of the year

I just hope domino doesn’t feel the need to stagger things to much. We know they have the material just pump it out. Avey and panda released albums within a month of each other in 2019 if I remember correctly and it was just fine. Can’t wait for all the sounds in store

I expect a longer wait to sinister grift. We don't even know if it's done

I bet we get an Avey single in January and then the full solo album in February / March

TS2 will release over the summer, maybe July

Reset US tour in the spring? hopefully? (please come to Seattle I have never been to a Panda Bear show!)

I definitely have a feeling Sinister Grift won't be until early 2024, maybe late 2023 if we're lucky. I doubt we'll get a full Deak album but I wouldn't be surprised if he dropped some random songs, since we know he's considered being more spontaneous before.

As much as I'd like AC to tour in 2023, I think it is for the best that we have to wait until 2024/25 because then it'd almost be guaranteed that they'd be trying out new material as opposed to just touring TS/TS2.

There’s no way they’re juggling Pb/SB world tour and any AC tours proper in 2023. Probably by design and maybe why they’re not sure how to release TS2

The touring landscape is so bleak for musicians right now what even is the obligation for bands when they release an album? For so long it was to do the big tour right after the album drops, but with revenue problems I wonder if AC can get away with dropping a full length and not touring again until 2024?

I'm not expecting any AC shows next year, maybe a festival or two at most, but I'm not even banking on that much. We'll get PBxSB scattered world tour and that's it.

i'm just happy we're getting back to back years with substantial AC releases and ALSO getting solo/side projects in those same years!

definitely the big second wave of AC output after the one massive wave of 2000s AC, where they basically dominated the entire decade, from August of 2000 with Spirit to late November 2009 with Fall Be Kind... a massive 10 albums (counting Crack Box) and 4 EPs... just nuts what they managed to create in the span of 10 years. this is hopefully the beginning of another very prolific period. wouldn't mind shorter tours and more studio releases :)

Would be amazing if this were 'the decade of the soundboards' and they did actually do what they've mentioned a number of times and release a load of old live recordings.

I think a minimalist piano/voice Deakin record would be pretty sweet.

That'd be tight. It's crazy to think of how much material bands of all nature have that they're sitting on. Obviously they don't owe the fans whatever they have in the vaults, but damn. Not only unreleased and demo stuff, but good live recordings with pro shot video etc

while we wait, locking this in:

feb - 7s
early 2023 - avey 7s tour
early/mid 2023 - pb/sb reset tour
aug 23 - AC record
late 2023 - small AC tour to support record
early 2024 - sinister grift
late 2024 - deak LP2 (manifesting)
~24->25 fresh new AC era begins, writing + tour
