in 2020 pb tweeted that tweet, seeming to tease a new album. in 2021 he played a set of new guitar based music in madrid. then during the youtube live stream premiere of reset, pb and sb were doing a q and a in the chat, and pb seemed to confirm that that is indeed the title of his next album and it will contain some of the songs from that set of guitar music from 2021. since this all happened during the premiere of reset, i figured that some people probably missed this tidbit of interesting news

I like those songs a lot from Madrid. He should probably do a Dang(re) ( Grift version)

i wonder with that title if the more eerie laid back songs like left in the cold and s of e will be the ones to end up on sinister grift, though the ones i like the most are ends meet and religious bop, the more upbeat ones

Every madrid song is a 10

Very excited to see how it turns out, easily has potential to be his best material yet

Grift has such shit connotations these days, I hope it's called something else, that's my only concern

I rate the title, feels and sounds good. Idk much about what grift means besides https://youtu.be/CLFLyuEk59Y

I’m wondering whether it’s now gonna be Caro Sinister. That’s what he called it in the recent chat.

Also: what tracks do we think could end up here?

From Madrid, s of e; religious bop; left in the cold; ends meet. Anything else we know of?

i think those are the 4 are the only remaining new ones from madrid after love of my life ended up on reset

the poster who asked the question was named Caro, so panda was addressing them saying like "Caro, sinister will -" etc so not part of the title

i love the title, i get what you mean about the connotation but i love the way those words sound together, sounds so ominous

do y'all remember the festival in Madrid posted an ig story of noah soundchecking? he was singing something that sounded like him saying, "left in the cold, looking for some other way" ... and i figured that was "left in the cold" ... but, when i listened to that track from the practice videos, it wasn't the same tune. it was (or at the least the 15-second story clip was) similarly drum-less, though.

i screen recorded it and can post if it doesn't ring a bell. the melody is so good and i find myself singing it all of the time :')

Nice catch! I totally missed that. I was looking up Portuguese meaning of caro and trying to make sense of it all :)

almost certain it'll come out next year -- gotta be the next thing up for PB -- and it's going to be yet another classic...need some bendy guitar in my life

"end's meet" is my jam

haven't listened to any of the madrid songs since 2021. might be another nice way to ease the wait for IIN.

i couldn't sing any of them to you so i'm pretty unfamiliar. maybe only listened once or twice.

fingers crossed this is right on the heels of IIN. the boys must be pretty keen to just get all this old/pandemic era stuff done and dusted, solo material included.

The Madrid set is seriously good enough to be its own album. That version of Danger is so gorgeous

Yeah there's something perfect about Madrid '21, just a superb set. I truly hope he doesn't think it bombed because moments of it aren't just unbelievably good but revelatory, e.g. the new Guys Eyes bridge and especially how beautiful the chorus of Danger sounds un-hocketed. Top-tier Panda for me, thanks so much to whoever recorded.

Just listened to this again and Noah has to get a little ‘La Bamba’ cover in there if he’s playing it live again

Yeah, Madrid Danger is the best Danger. The Reset version is nice but doesn't really pack the same emotional weight of the Madrid performance.

Literally only just clicked that I'd heard Danger before Reset. I spend almost all my time with the Madrid set on Token. Breaks my heart that its not actually a new song I'll get to hear recorded soon. It's just the best version of that song ever. I've said it before better but that little chugging guitar with the chord change and his falsetto croon, I would that would go on for a long time. I need to make an extended version of it, I just can't be bothered.

3rded 4thded whatever, press that madrid show iphone recording straight on an LP. genuine career highlight front to back.

so funny/typical that we all adore this version of danger when (according to sb) noah was dissatisfied having forgotten his lyrics, hence repeating the same verse

spot on stan all the songs with chugging guitar/crooning are beautiful. his voice was in the zone and guitar sounding great. love the huge drum machine sound, all the rhythms so simple. and the ballads are equally hypnotising

Yeah I’m in the same boat as so many others, I played the Madrid boot to DEATH when it dropped. I particularly need Religious Bop and Ends Meet in my life. Agree that the adapted versions of Song for Ariel/Guys Eyes, Token and Danger really shine. I know it’s not in the pipeline but a studio recording of Song For Ariel would probably be my favorite version of that song.

Name is good. I know people overuse the word grifter but that’s also because we got more of ‘em. I actually think the title points this album in the direction of having a similar concept to Reset of having a lot of cheery tunes about the chaos going on. That’s Broke too, that’s clearly been Noah’s songwriting focus recently

Before Noah records Song for Ariel for the love of god, please find the old samples for Laughed for a World Filled with Fantasy and record that shit. I've been dying for over a decade because Homebase is all we really got.

Like that little dub clip that was posted a little while back
