With the release of Passer-By, a lot of people are pointing to it as one of the group’s saddest songs. Would love to know what AC tracks move you the most — whether it be that a song itself is particularly sad or if you have a memory tied to a song that gets you a lil misty eyed. Or maybe they’re tears of happiness!
For me it’s Doggy. Cannot hear that song without welling up. Especially “they buried you deep doggy, you’re the best doggy,” the way Dave says best there just rips me in half. Literally the saddest song ever written and they’re kind of evil for laying it to tape.

Penny Dreadfuls is the saddest one for me. I kinda avoid listening to it, cuz I don't wanna always feel that weight of sadness. It just gets progressively more and more tragic as the song goes on. That keyboard melody that comes in at 4:17 onwards is super emotive.
You leave my BOYYYYY ALLONNEE!
So it goes to show what all things know
Just one thing keep it live
Keep it live, DEEAAAAD or alive
These guys kill to live on
And you give up on the upside
Give it up on the other side
I wanna throw in Afterburner, the way it just stews on that instrumental after the exalting vocal performance. Like a perfectly audiated furrowed brow. Both hypnotic and anxious

Walkabout perfectly captured how I felt living far from home for a long time and feeling free of any expectations. I'm really happy I experienced that.
It really is.
And it's a perfect example for a "grower". I found it incredibly boring, aimless and meandering on the first few rounds of listening to feels. But once it clicked, it really clicked.

Absolutely second this, a lot of STGSTV is hard for me to listen to not because of the usual high frequency complaint but because of how heavy some of these songs are - PDs especially.
The other hard-hitter for me is Street Flash. Such a beautiful comment on depression and anxiety and the small reprieves we can find in the beauty of every day life. "I'm sorry I came in late this evening / But all the clocks around the town had died" -- This resonates for me, the pressure of time can be too much sometimes, an experience that makes that go away can be so euphoric. "What were all those troubles on my mind?"
The sounds floating around on Street Flash really sell the feeling. The deranged laugh is so strained, but there's such a soothing nature to the song. It's like "I'm beaten down bad right now, but for this moment I feel like I can hang on" -- The chord progression on the "still alive" crescendo is so triumphant. The final refrain of "I took a walk / I like a walk" is so simple but so effective. My favorite AC song I think, so touching and bittersweet. Sums up what I love about their music.

For some reason Selection of a Place really gets me, particularly when his voice is double tracked on the "not thinking about" parts. Gives me the chills to my gills
