preemptively starting a separate thread for chords for the next record, which avey has confirmed will contain all the songs that didn't make it onto time skiffs. so that's:
magicians from baltimore
genie's open
broke zodiac
gem and i
stride rite
defeat (a not suite)
soul capturer
king's walk (no chords but would be pretty rad to transcribe it)
And then when the groove kicks in it's basically just back and forth between and Eb and Db. Timing is like:
Eb––––––––––––––––Db
So we should take a long drive
–––––––––––Eb
You and I to Avalon
––––––––––––––––––Db
Take me somewhere new
Then through the form again, eventually landing on Ab for the next section:
Ab
I'll play the thief
Ab
I'll make a call
Ab—Gb–Fm-Eb
Emp-ty – a – bar
––––––––Ab
In Baltimore
Chorus:
–––––––––––Eb
Where it gets high
––––––––––Ab
On the magnolia
Then the last section is also just back and forth between Eb and Ab, but twice as fast as in the chorus:
–––––––––Eb–––Ab
There is a dreamland
––––––Eb–––––––––Ab
Many miles inside me
–––––Eb––––––––––––Ab
And I go there when I can
––––––Eb–––––––––––Ab
Many miles haunting me
And then you keep that same two-chord vamp going throughout the outro.
You can definitely add some embellishments to try to get it to sound a little more representational... as usual with AC they're really just riffing atop a loosely agreed-upon harmonic skeleton. The Dbs in the first section can be Dbadd9s, and you can play with sus2/4 embellishments to match the melody during the verses. Also that little 3-note riff Deakin plays in between lines goes Eb-Gb-Db (which implies a Gb chord but Avey's just hammering on that same Ab underneath it so just stick with that probably).
