hi y'all! i'm looking for a list of unique live variations of anco/pb/avey/deakin tracks or a list of boots with such revamps. what are some essential gigs with different than studio versions?

i listened to panda's 2021 show at festival brillante and the buoys tracks with beats are so good!!!! i would love more of those crazy different versions.

generally, it's always worth checking out the earliest bootlegs (2001–2003) because the band was still experimenting with performance + structure; the earliest performances from each album, where the songs were in their rawest forms; the radio sessions, which have a few songs that didn't necessarily get repeated on stage; and the solo performances, where especially deakin shows (and some of the briefer avey tours) still have big changes, a touring band (earliest panda shows have this as well), etc.

individual shows, roughly chronologically:

panda bear + deakin duo, with a blissed out How To Dive and some songs that never showed up anywhere else freaky first feels bootleg. first song is a version of "ice cream factory", an old song that's included on crack box a rare Feels winters love: avey + kría radio session, one of the few "doctess" appearances where she's playing AC songs on piano solo avey acoustic set with songs from feels + pullhair rubeye a rare SJ winters love: a sampler-heavy radio session with heavy person pitch vibes, looking ahead to MPP. 4th track is kind of a cousin to bros and doesn't appear anywhere else. i love this version of GLO too parking lot acoustic set of feels songs after the band had a bad/incomplete show after a death in the family "weird" take-away show performances. lol remember 2007 panda previewing a few tomboy tracks in 2009 alongside person pitch + AC songs sublime solo electric guitar performance from deakin acoustic CHz session on KEXP only live performance of bluish legendary ATP performance debuting the PBVSGR songs avey-less show with long versions of everyone else's songs, including a full band comfy in nautica infamous avey tare solo set at the mothlight with songs that would appear on cows on hourglass pond buoys/homie version of comfy from the cows tour, the full band Heads Hammock is nice if you're a down there fan pandemic solo AC set from avey

There was one Feels/Strawberry Jam boot with chores sung by DEAKIN! I don't know the performance bc I lost the folder directory, but the recording was super lossy! I got it off here, so it was probably something from late 2005! Whichever one sounds the crappiest (not grrrnd zero, I mean like underwater crappy, not horrible clipping)

I think this is the earliest solo we got of him singing besides the "waaaaayoooh" and maybe? the chewing meowing sounds when avey's saying "woooaahhh get that woooaaahh get that" in Purple Bottle. Back then people must've been flipping out when they heard this boot, "What, who is this?!" haha

When was that arpeggio-like We Tigers played? I think it was full band, had lots of energy.

so glad he brought it back for madrid, he clearly still loves it, i really love that he's playing the riff now with that bare percussion. also still keeping it fresh with those new vocal vamps, he's unstoppable

CHZ tour Pulleys is insane

on the Paradiso 09 boot some interesting things are going on in extended intros and bridges:

1) At the beginning of Guys Eyes Avey sings 'stay, don't go' over and over (I think he was exorcising some divorce demons at this time), similarly

2) During the Fireworks breakdown he sings over an over 'I was wrong!' it's spooky it's like he's talking directly to Kria/Kristin.

3) There is a FANTASTIC Geo led extended freakout into Lablakely Dress/Fireworks that is completely ecstatic and beautiful.
