If they had kept 2019 Passerby the way it was, I would say Passerby EASILY, but since I'm not vibing with the new Passerby quite as much I'm gonna go Cherokee.

Thank u. Maybe a controversial opinion but honestly, 2019 Passerby>Defeat (any version). I've given up hope that even the studio version will match how I feel about the 2019 version, but I'm sure it will still be a good song.

my life feels so much more complete now that I've accepted new Cherokee into my heart but yeah, Passerby is still a bit of a puzzler... Fall '19 version felt kind of huge and epic and super unique and now the new version feels like this way more low-key (albeit still really nice) affair.

I think as someone else said in the Blast thread today, the beautiful-seeming production that Prester indicates for the LP could end up doing the MOST work on that Passer-by 2nd half come record release..

I bet there's still gonna be some weird vocal processing, maybe just mixed kinda low and chilled out compared to the big #1-ish, Fever Ray-ishness of the Fall '19 version. Only time will tell.

Cherokee and Royal are equally my favorites. They're both beyond great

Going genies. Such a perfect tune, the first section is gorgeous with the 3 part harmonies. So dreamy and makes me feel like I’m falling asleep or floating away. The 2nd part is massive, avey/panda harmonies at their best. Plus the transition between the two is sick. Makes me feel like I’m drifting into a dream

The last section gives me Spirit vibes. So playful with the high synths. I love deakin’s “ohhhs” and panda’s “sea of LIGHT”, not to mention avey’s eeeee. Tbh it feels like a party. Like I’ve drowned in my dream but all the sea creatures are celebrating my being drowned

I respect this but um put on that Blast recording on a lil more when in yr in the right headspace 2 accept it in2 yr heart and you'll understand. it STILL explodes, and never STOPPED exploding. It's all about that synthesizer riffing and Deakin's vocals now... maybe always has been.

the synths in cherokee are for sure great, but its all about gem and i. that song fucking rocks god damn it. its so playful but weirdly moody sounding... and "crack open another beer... lets get in it"

also people are massively sleeping on we go back. that song has a more controlled tiquid 04 energy to me... and the vocal tradeoffs... its gonna fucking pop

Very hard to pick a favorite, but I am most excited for the studio version of Magicians from Baltimore.

After that recent Blast, I've gone for Stride Rite. What a song. This elongated mega-era is insanely rich with material. I really really hope the second album isn't too far off because these songs are on the boil right now.

Trivia: Stride Right is now the only remaining track I haven't heard

Crazy to see them all listed out here and how hard it is to pick just one. For now I'm convinced Genie's is one of the best things they've ever done though.

If you asked me three years ago I'd have said Defeat. If you asked me two years ago I'd have said a tie between Dragon Slayer, Prester John, and Stride Right. Right now it's Gem and I. I'm very excited to hear how that comes out with some serious production on it.
