Maybe they needed a year to tour PW songs. PW live to studio discrepency is so abnormally fucking huge. These songs needed live drumming. I love painting with studio, but live it's a whole nother beast, which is usually the case with AC. listen to the energy here, it's fucking unreal, lying in the grass imo is one of pw's best, and the second best use of hocketing on the album after recyling.
live painting with just feels like ac are flexing all over our lives, like yeah we are fucking nasty at playing music, we're gonna write intricate melodies based around this niche vocal trick and then pull it off flawlessly live because its fun as fuck to do. like it just feels like they are letting their nuts hang more than writing personal/introspective stuff. one of my favorite parts about litg is that synth line that plays during the chorus, the live breakdown and avey's screams during it, how every sample feels more pronounced like the trumpet, trust me, i know it sounds like im just preaching to the fucking choir here but this performance is great!!! GIVE IT A LISTEN. these pw shows, from a different perspective, were fucking insane and def deserve a spot with ac's best live years like 04-06 or 07-09

The live pw shows are what made me love this era those shows have so much energy and feel so loose, I love it. But honestly overall the last few years, much like the Grateful Dead I almost never listen to the studio recordings anymore. I just constantly listen to live ac bootlegs, they’ve just always been such a unique and great live act

yeah this song live blew me away live in Jax, even though I was never too into the studio version. The entire encore was this/bagels/daily routine, which was an insanely high energy ending

That ending! Wow. “Lying in the Grass” has to be one of the weirdest songs ever conjured up. And you’re right, those shows were incredible. The energy, the musicianship, the songs.

The breakdown at the end is sick. I could see them transitioning into Today's Supernatural

best live era of that decade imo, save for maybe the very end/aka the beginning of this new one. maybe, not sure. weird how different this vibe is from the current stuff. love it all..

I'm already missing the unbelievable energy of the PW live era. im psyched about the new material, but going back and listening to the PW boots... they went fucking nuts. none of the new material has that unhinged energy

Jeremy deserves so much credit for the energy he brought that tour. That dude is wild on the drums.
I think back to the Slasher Flicks show in Boston that I was front and center for before they had to bail after a few songs because Dave was sick. I could feel his kick drum in my chest, it was bonkers.

he's a ridiculously good drummer, very inspiring to me. such a powerful playing style.
noah is probably my favorite drummer ive ever heard, but he's kinda letting me down with the new shows. i appreciate that his recent playing style is clearly hip-hop inspired, with consistent tight rhythms, but he doesn't seem interested in playing with the energy that he used to. maybe i'm just getting that impression because i haven't seen them live with the new stuff, just heard the bootlegs, but his playing style used to be so wild and artful that it's weird to me that he would just sort of .... play the drums. even that beautiful little rhythm he would play in the outro to defeat in the 2019 shows, the little flourish on the hi-hat and ride, is gone now
Feel like I'm being a downer about their new stuff but I'm just bein honest
