Together was a short-lived side project Panda Bear did with Rusty Santos which played music at fashion shows.

Below is a link to a recording for the United Bamboo Autumn/Winter show in 2004.

Enjoy.

I've never even heard of this before and Google yields no results except United Bamboo's website saying PB has performed for them before.

This is great stuff. First song didn't blow me away but the second song has very Banshee Beat-esque guitar. Thanks for uploading!

yeah i've always wanted to hear this! where'd you get it?

e: i think some of the metadata is grabbed from a polish audiobook? i'll clean it up and stick it in the boots thread (http://www.mediafire.com/?eb8ialqn0wrucep)

ee: seems like the show was at Scandinavia House, February 12, 2004 at 7pm. kind of a gap in ac bootlegs history; they played a couple of unrecorded shows in new york and then noah and josh played as Noah's Ark in Japan at the end of the month. these jams and the noah's ark material have kind of a similar vibe.......

Holy Wow. You never know what those guys have hidden up their closet sleeves!

United Bamboo's website also says that Petey Kember once played and/or recorded music for one of their shows. Pete, if you read this thread, did you happen to record that? I'm sure we'd all be all ears!

Didn't PK say that the first he'd heard of Noah was at a party where someone put on Person Pitch? Or am I somehow making that up?

You're welcome, everyone!

I decided to post this now because I thought it would help ease the wait for the Reaper a little bit for everyone. The truth is that I've been sitting on this for about 5-6 years now and it's brought me a lot of joy in that time (I remember listening to it many times during work or to help soothe/calm me down at times).

A bit of info on where the hell this thing even came from...

Years ago on a few iterations back of CA I think, probably in about 08 or so, I was a mod and much more active on the board. I somehow ended up receiving this from another common poster as a return favor for something else I sent him. I don't even remember what exactly I sent him, but I can assure you it didn't seem nearly as cool or "rare" as this at the time.

I can't speak to any specifics about the recording since I wasn't given much info, but regarding the Polish title, I think jfw7 is right. The track already came to me like that and I think iTunes mistakenly identified it automatically as a Polish audiobook. I've never been able to find any info on this or any specific Together shows, so this recording may well be the only thing we'll have from that time period.

i'd be surprised if they played more than one or two other shows. i think they were mostly a fashion-exclusive project

some basic info:
i think rusty was dating miho aoki, who founded united bamboo (the label whose fall/winter collection was being shown at this fashion show) and also started a record label with rusty (that released they keep me smiling w/ ac's "the kite") and sang on a few of his records.

At the time, I was told to keep it to myself by the person who sent it to me. I wanted to honor that but now with all the time that's passed, I figured it wouldn't matter. Still, I sought out permission via SB out of respect. I wasn't intentionally trying to keep it from anyone and in fact that's why I just never said anything. I hate it when people are like "I've got this super rare recording everybody... but sorry, I can't share! Too bad for you guys, it sounds so good." I figured you can't miss what you didn't know existed in the first place, and that eventually the day would come (today).

this reminds me of my "old days"...When FEELS was the latest release forever and i was just discovering all those SUNG TUNGS boots (not too mention all the others), PERSON PITCH was on the horizon, along with the confusion of PULLHAIR RUBBEYE and the track-by-track hype induced leakage of STRAWBERRY JAM...i've enjoyed my journey with this band, but i do miss the thrill of getting it all started. great music, sweet, but off kilter. just how i like my acoustic AC.

nothing makes me more nostalgic than the Fall season, and these tunes are just in time for Fall!

thanks for the boot!

Between "the Kite" and this set, early 2004 almost feels like a weird micro-era in AC's existence. Seems like after recording Sung Tongs and before recording (and maybe even before writing) Feels, they were briefly playing these dreamy little numbers with tons of delay on every instrument. A sound that would be refined on Feels.

I'm always amazed by just how prolific AC really is.

This is so amazing. You really don't ever discover so-called "hidden gems" any more in this day and age. Everything is already out there, if you dig enough. This is an exception. This set feels like it was truly forgotten by time, and it's just now reaching a lot of people who really want to hear it, and some of them didn't even know it existed (like me).

It's almost like finding a rare, out-of-print 7" by your favorite band at a record store. And the best part is, the music is great too. We really can't thank you enough :)

Enormous thanks for this and for explaining your reasoning. I always wished they'd have expanded on the Noah's Ark sound over the years, along with the supposedly scrapped electric Tongs/post-Tongs experiments. Hoping this fits the bill to some extent!

Damn, I've been having this on repeat, really good. The second half of the song, when Panda starts cooing, almost reminds of some of the stuff off Sigur Ros's first album.

This. Working in very similar areas. I don't think it's as strong as the Noah's Ark set but it's a gorgeous sound they're working with.
