I'm not disputing the fact that it's a slower tempo, I just think that is really weak criticism. Just because you had some preconception as to what the album was supposed to sound like doesn't mean it's the record's fault for not sounding that way.

Of course you don't have to like the song or the album for that matter. I just think you should learn to appreciate what it is before you start condemning the band's decisions.

Does anybody else think that Angel should just join Animal Collective? She'd fit right in! Love all the little flourishes and harmonies she does on this album. AND THE BASS! (which I assume is her?) Also, on Catchy she achieves some really Panda sounding harmonies-- I'm pretty sure she could even replace Panda vocally, if needed.

I don't. i feel like throwing in a new member would jumble up the gnarly chemistry that has been years and years in the making. and if they were to get a new member (can't see this ever happening), I would hope they wouldn't just go for someone because they sound like Panda Bear. Would feel kinda cheap.

though thinking of potential replacements is kinda funny. like "Sorry Geo, we're replacing you with Oneohtrix Point Never. He's really good."

i think it would be cool if Angel was in AC for a record (and an honorary member w/ a special name), the bass parts tend to be the weakest part of AC songs right? like Deakin and Geo are filling a whole. idk i think she is cool and should release more solo stuff/be back in dirty ps. i don't want anyone replaced but her voice is pretty and would sound cool w/ Noah's and Dave's (Deakin shouldn't sing, pls).

also as an aside: does Kria sing at all on Feels, i was listening to a song recently and it sounded so much like her but i decided it was probably just Noah hittin them high notes.

Haha, but really, no one can replace Panda Bear, Deak and Geo. But I think Slasher Flicks proves that Angel does compliment Avey pretty well and in ways that are familiar to keen listeners of Animal Collective. On certain parts of the album, Angel and Avey almost sound like AC.

Plus, Angel does the work of a deak and a geo, combined. And she rocks it on the keys no less. Gotta give it up. I hope they work together indefinitely. Mark my words, folks.

Really though, are we reaching a new era for the AC? Where the solo materials are becoming more interesting/compelling than the collective? I sincerely hope that there's at least one more stunner in store, but there's really no way to know the answer to that question, time can only tell. We have to hold out for Geo and Deakin solo albums too.

Well IDK, don't you think they have to be a lot more self-promoting when it comes to their solo work, since it is without AC? And avey already talked about a new AC album before the release of this one, so I think it's fair to say their solo stuff and group work are equally important to them

Good points. A new Animal Collective album promotes itself. But any album needs promotion. I don't think there's been any more promotion for the album than before--so far.

In my opinion, I think enter the slash is more interesting than centipede hz. And I think both albums are quite comparable. Chz was mostly Avey songs anyway. I think Slash House sounds more live than CHZ, and wasn't that what AC was going for initially? This is all I'm trying to say. But its only just my opinion. I still really like Centipede hurts, tho.

PioneerPreserve, I know right? Catchy is my favourite right now, love the brazilian rhythms in the chorus and the post chorus part--i have no idea what the lyrics are there.

The Outlaw is creeping on me though. "The Future" part is really rockin'. I'm so glad I didn't listen to the boots!!
