person pitch and tomboy have some of the best album art evaaa... I have a tomboy shirt and I feel so cold in that shit!! that with sum good blue jeans and an army jacket... now THATS peak tomboy swag lol. For whatever reason in my mind I was expecting sinister grift's cover art to have a similar vibe, very black n white n grey vibes for whatever reason. The defense cover art was actually not far off from what I was picturing. Who tf knows my preconceived notions of this album have been shattered which is kinda beautiful cus now I rlly don't know what to expect. I am very excited to see how it sounds. Def afraid that I got demoitis from the Madrid boot cus that shit would bring me to tears damn near everytime I listened to it. like religious bop is just so fucking infectious dude whatttt. like how did he come up with those melodies. I'm def a 2010s defender but like man the 20s have been fucking incredible for these guys so far. ts/iin, 7s, the Madrid boot, these new Avey songs... like not to discount anything that they put out in the 2010s but damn we are getting so fed rn... they're really on some of the best shit they've been on in a minute.

Thanks for the scoop ttg!
And thanks for sharing some thoughts on my whole spiel from earlier.
Your thoughts on the album definitely get me excited! I’ve softened on Defense a bit (still sadly think it’s kinda mid but not filled with disappointment and confusion like I was!).
So late to this discussion, sorry to dredge it up again! I don't often visit the CA forums and almost never post thoughts online but thought I had too much parallel-ness with the foxtrot thoughts to let it slide.
However almost all the thoughts I had have been already covered...
Parasocial weirdness aside (all these points are good ones). These musicians we love have shared a lot of excellent insights and meditations about relationships and family life. Countless times I've been centered/grounded/made wiser by AC and solo project songs. Some songs are deeply significant beacons to me about what's important and how to appreciate and care for loved ones. So when I hear about their relationship problems I think it's understandable and not necessarily unhealthy to get a bunch of role model-esque feelings, and perhaps a bit of fear seeing less than golden situations going down. Just feeling a jolt when your imaginary domestic wingman changes form.
Panda singing about settling down with kids had a massive influence on my own gravitation towards starting a family and domestication. I was also bummed when I heard about Avey/Kria ending it, I gazed into my wife's curls too, but also was really getting back into Pullhair Rubeye a few months back. Definitely doesn't have to render anything hollow or void.
I have a moment at the start of every new era when I'm not sure I can embrace the new sound. There's always something that startles me, but that's definitely part of the fun. Took years to get into Eucalyptus, which upset me because I previously had such a connection, and wondered if it was just me becoming old and lame, which was maybe partially true because it had a lot to do with babies not letting me sleep and I unravelled and couldn't handle a lot of new or 'challenging' music or something. Love it now, just finally bought it this year.
I was fully spun out by this new slow/simple panda on Never ending game and Woo remixes. Sounded waaaay too close to music I remember hating when I was younger. But somehow it transcends that. The melted/broken/limping/minimal guitar solos of defense and religious bop (and also The Musical) are not particularly conventional. Reimagined inverted blues/rock. Left in the Cold is panda sincerity by way of young prayer times 50. Makes me feel so unexpectedly old like Kaspar Hauser says.

yea I've warmed up to the artwork a lot since first impression. it's got a classical quality to it. still odd how closely framed it is but that's presumably the intention
I think, if marketing gifs are to be trusted, there's a cool pointilist font that spells out "panda bear sinister grift" in some kind of shiny reflective ink on the cover which, if true, makes me extremely like the cover.

A bit of a confession: I actually didn't like the Tomboy art at first. Person Pitch and the singles were so my aesthetic vibe that I felt a bit let down by the lack of color and clarity. But then I heard it and now think it's fantastic.
Panda Bear has one good album cover (Reaper) one great cover (Person Pitch) and the rest are simply the thing I look at as I go to play the albums.
Totally with you

Yeah it's good, everytime I watched it I have a first moment of repulsive sensing by to the ultra lo-fi quality, but the second later intrigued me. Especially the contrast between the digital vibe of the pictures and the sound of the album.

It's funny you guys mention that cus I was looking at the cd case a few hours ago. Never been big on the art but the words inside the case r very sweet. made me kinda sad. I like the little face on the back cover

Great tune, for me it has grown slowly. Not the usual PB, ma happy to listen this version of PB too. It is incredible, in my opinion, at the end how warm it sound when he sing "here i come", it really get you to the feeling of something coming to you to help you. Maybe its' not the sense at all, but for me works in this way.
