Tangerine Reef exists beyond that album trio progression to me !! :) :) The Music Box concerts i think are also like in different dimensions of their creative process and outward expression!!

So it is also like this:

Centipede Hz, Painting With, Music Box Village, Tangerine Reef!!

damn fr i like half of it pretty good but like. hm. It does seem sort of like a soft reset for the band somehow... The Path and Defeat 1 obvs are true greatness. So yeah shit I guess it shouldnt be undersold.

I STILL think Skiffs 2 should just be a double via having live music box night 2 just be a 2nd disc. Or third?

Would be cool if they announced TS2 on the same day; seems unlikely though considering new Avey stuff round the bend+PBSB Tour

Honestly at this point I would accept all of these songs becoming permanent live staples and never coming out (even though we know they are) because my excitement for all the new solo stuff has far surpassed studio versions of Skiffs 2 songs

Pulleys might be their Free Bird, in that, although maybe it would not be helpful per se if it happened, it would just be a fun phrase to shout in to the ether at concerts, and if they decided to sing a line or two of Pulleys (if it wasn't in their songs to play for that tour) that would be a very good experience!!

I do really think some version of Pulleys would fit really well on one of the upcoming tours, whether it is next year or otherwise!!

I thought it fit in pretty well when they played it during the 2019 tour.

saw from the reddit that dave went on a podcast called “musicstrology” or something (search that) and he said they are finishing mixing it and aren’t sure how theyll release it yet

Yeah specifically sounds like Avey was unhappy with a couple things mixing-wise so they’re finishing it this week? And they can’t all agree on which songs belong on an album vs which should be on an EP/single. Avey says “hopefully” it’ll be out next year (lol)

Domiyes or Domino mother fucker

Not sure what that means but that's what I say to my wife to gauge if she is up for a Domino's pizza evening, minus 'mother fucker'.

But yeah, a little dispiriting. Cheer yourself up by checking out the new Flaccid Mojo!

A bit disappointing considering domino's bullshit, but obviously they needed to take their time so it is what it is in that regard

I'm definitely interested in seeing what the release schedule looks like in terms of EP/LP. Wonder if we might get a 7in and then the album next year, or if they decide to stick to LP/EP and maybe they have enough for a 7in.

Certainly enough for me to be excited about next year with Pikmin 4 and Zelda so that'll be fun

Wonder if the desire (from some member/s) to do EP/singles has more to do with practical realities of ease/speed of release scheduling and potential touring obligations than with artistic considerations

Also don't know if it's new info but interested to learn from this that Rainbow Bog was all recorded last year

omfg lol. anyone got a timestamp for these comments?

you have to wonder what the differing opinions are. is it over defeat? or does everyone think their own songs are all bangers?

edit: never mind it's right at the beginning

Sounds like the main disagreement is over whether or not to include their pronouns and which First Nations tribe to credit in the liner notes.

I thought how Avey worded the info about his next LP was pretty funny… he wanted to get it out before panda bear/sonic boom but they “beat him to the punch”. Like it was a race lol

I honestly can see it being pretty frustrating to have to wait to release your music until someone else puts out theirs

"Slight" "small levels" and "working on it this week" don't alarm me as much as album cycle realities and disagreement on how to split up these last songs. One silver lining to EU tour cancellation is they can get around to mixing business sooner

By next year, it would be like them finally releasing Painting With now. Not done the maths but I expect it's correct.

Not being funny but when will they start writing the next AC music? Will they still be touring Skiffs era in 2024? Feels like creative inertia. I'm not criticising them at all, just how the challenges of release schedules and a backlog of material clog up the pipes and force you to slow down.

I would love to be a fly on the wall/email at Domino... re: them staggering the releases to the point where its frustrating the band members. I'm not necessarily critiquing how they operate but I just want to know the rationale

side note: the massive queues for pressing plants certainly add to all this prolonging right?

At this point a late next year release of those songs is getting kind of absurd. I don’t expect them to keep waiting on it to start working new stuff. They’ll move on and it wouldn’t be surprising if they do not tour the skiffs era material again

In light of Avey’s comments on Musicstrology, I would like to posit the “Defeat as a stand-alone EP” theory again.

Sad news.

Excited for new Avey though. Cows was a miss for me (feels similar to PBVSGR). Hope he's cooked up something really out there. Does he actually call it Rainow Bog on the podcast?

Nah, all he really said was that he didn't know how much he could say about it. Probably in the minority here but I think I'm more excited for Avey's incoming solo stuff than TS2 at this point, if only because it's more new and mysterious. Happy that that seems to be right around the corner.

yeah what i'm thinking will happen at this point is that they'll write new music before this album comes out/before their next tour, and then they'll do a tour to support this album but the tour will be mostly new music with a couple time skiffs 2 songs thrown in

i do wonder how quickly they'll get back to writing new AC music though, i remember josh recently saying that theyre all thinking about their solo projects as the last tour was winding down

Really has to be a headscratcher in terms of wtf to do next yeah... and for the first time ever I absolutely agree with you stan, I'm getting worried this crap is cutting into their ethos, which should not be a thing in the """indie""" scene

It was easier being patient with their releases before with at least having tours to look forward to, now it's literally like, what the fuck is the point of holding off? Really doesn't take much to be "businessman" for a label, huh
