He says the 1st of April is the latest date he'll be sending it...
Which has me really looking forward to him sending an email out in the morning of the 1st saying "GUYS I AM SO SORRY I DROPPED ALL OF THE STUFF OFF A CLIFF IT'S ALL GONE
... april fools! Everything's shipped out and should be reaching you soon"
The other good news is that there IS a book

Gnip Gnop 7"s went out last Friday (or Thursday?) and some people already had them by the weekend. If these are shipped first class or even media mail (most likely considering the contents) I'd imagine some people might receive them as early as two weeks from now!
That's really all the info there was (besides an image of what appears to be the album art).
You see me huh?
Well... I'm not sure if this is a good idea getting involved here. I appreciate all the excitement and good thoughts though. I
just wanted to clarify two things:
To all of you who are having an issue with the cassette (hi hash). I get it. But a cd really seemed silly to me at this point. I know that CDs are essentially just a file transfer tool at this point. And all of you are going to get a link to high quality files anyway. So the cassette to me represented something a little more unique and special. Cassettes are a huge part of music culture in Mali. That was part of my inspiration as well. They have cassette stores all over the place. I think the cassette came out sweet and I hope you guys who got one enjoy it. If you don't have a cassette player. Don't freak out. You're getting good files.
Also... To anyone that didn't donate to Kickstarter. I mentioned in an update that the music will be made available on iTunes and streaming and a bunch of other digital music stores. It's gonna happen very shortly after we send it to everyone who donated. So you won't have long to wait.
I hope that this is helpful to you guys.
Looking forward to you guys getting a hold of this stuff.
Hey Josh, I hope there's no hard feelings about me sending the cassette to someone else... It's your music to present the way you want, I'm just not a collector of anything other than CDs which are still special to me in the way records and tapes are to others even if what's on them is something I could just get in a download. Thank you for providing the download and an online digital release by the way. And thanks for all your work and perseverance for this project, we're all proud of you and hope you're not just proud of this EP and book and of course your work in Mali (which I'm sure you are) but proud of yourself for seeing it through especially in the face of so much criticism and flooding and dumb people saying "awww I was hoping for a CD" and whatever else. Love, Hash

Thanks so much for stopping in and updating us, Deakin. I'm really bummed I missed out on the Kickstarter campaign, so stoked to hear I'll be able to still purchase the album very soon! Thanks again for all your work!
Fair play with the cassette reasoning. I was in Morocco for a while and tapes are standard, so I appreciate the cultural value to you/Mali. I only 'collect' books so I don't know why I'm moaning. I can't remember the last time I played any physical media. Looking forward to hearing what you've been up to. Thanks.
This is all awesome. Really wish I had backed the Kickstarter way back when because I'm sure that book will be sweet too. Just glad we'll be able to purchase on iTunes eventually because I wanna be able to give my support.

Thanks for updating us Josh! Cover album artwork snippit looks awesome!
Really hope I can find a cassette somewhere and get the book as well. I got the Keep shoes and excited to see what comes along with those!! If you end up doing a tour I hope I can see you play solo! Loved the energy you brought to the cent. hz shows! Thanks so much!
hey josh if you're still around
just wondering if that dvd you were working on with Aaron is still part of this thing. it sounded very cool and the images surrounding this project are really sweet. I believe you once posted an image of video from mali being projected on trees. I loved how that looked. No hard feels if that aspect got dropped along the way, just curious cause you haven't mentioned it lately.
Very excited to hear this. I will be buying it on iTunes when it's released, but I'll also be looking for a cassette on discogs. I bought my record player specifically because it has a cassette player and I really like them.
Yeah. Re: video. Got a couple things in the works. It's jumped hands a bit. There is a music vid for one of the songs. That's finished already. And I have a homie who is working on the travel footage. Aaron worked on some elements. But I have someone else working on it now. I won't say who cause until it's real there's no point. But I'm really excited about it. I think it's gonna be sweet. Working on a way to include a download code for digital files that will ideally be in the package that backers are receiving: the the tracks from the cassette. Some other audio goodies. The music vid for "just am". And if all comes together well... A video utilizing the video I shot. Down to the wire but in the best way.
Also been getting a lot of questions here and elsewhere about playing shows. I absolutely want to start playing shows but also feel really drawn to put together a proper release of newer songs and material. So I have no dates scheduled yet and I imagine it will be at least a couple of months (and knowing me... possibly longer) before I start making plans like that. But I absolutely want and look forward to doing some touring.
Thank you guys all very much. I have a lot of thoughts and feelings that I'm gonna write in a letter that I include in the package. And I know not everyone from Kickstarter is on here. But I know that a lot of you have been really consistently enthusiastic and supportive. It means more to me than I'll probably ever be able to express. It's perhaps unwise to admit vulnerability around any of this stuff. But I've been blocked for a long time. And seeing this thru to completion is bursting open channels that have been shut down for a long time. The feeling is new and delicate. But it's amazing. And I know that all of this is the beginning of a new world of movement and expression for me that I have been hungry for since I was very young. The support (and frustration) from you guys and others has been integral in helping me find my way to this new place.
Forever and humbly grateful
Josh
P.s. I doubt that any of this is worthy of a post on a news site. But id ask politely that if anyone is drawn to do so... Please don't. It means a lot to me that I can have direct communication with fans without feeling like the things I say here might show up somewhere else. . and at this point all of the materials will be public in a matter of a couple weeks anyway.
