Deakin went off on stride right. What a great song. Seen him play it solo twice but the full band version is perfection

Just saw there's a Bridge to Quiet music video being released on July 1st. Something tells me the next step is either an album announcement OR a new single being dropped as news about touring ramps up. Hopefully we know something early next month but I won't hold my breath.

i really hope this thing is just massive....like an 80+-minute triple album or something
they've been giving songs a lot of room to breath within each track on recent releases (meeting of the waters, bridge to quiet, day with the homies, birds EP) and I'd really love to hear them take that approach on a full-length

I would rather have something that has replay value instead of a record I have to make time in my day to sit through. Not to say I wouldn't appreciate longer songs, but still keep it somewhere under a hour. I'm assuming since there's 10+ tracks being played live that some of them will end up on a eventual EP or single.

i hope it’s not announced and then we wait another fucking 2 or 3 months… domino is fucking annoying with that shit…

I think even more than Domino, the band like the build-up, the slow roll-out.
They've been a bit looser, experimental with EP's recently, but for an album, the main course, I think they prefer the traditional way.
Even if it's released tomorrow, it's already too late!

Pretty sure they already said they saved some of the songs for when they'll be able to record in person again.

If they have that many songs, I think it’d be cool to get the album they’ve already recorded as a reasonable 9-12 track thing, then hopefully they can get together to record the rest for another release shortly after. Whether that’d be an EP or a second full length, I’m not sure.
Unrelated thought, but I really hope Peanut Butter Hearts has survived since the music box show. Such a fun Deakin jam!

Deakin just told someone on discord that we should chill out for a few months about the new record. They want to share it just as badly as we want to hear it, but have to adhere to domino’s schedule. Definitely sounds like the album’s a 2022 beast now
He also mentioned that the next couple of years are going to be rich with spoils, and they’re hard at work on all sorts of stuff at the moment. I think it’s probably time to turn our attention to the September shows/boots. Hopefully they can still pump out a single before the end of the year

lol that's what I was thinking, the boys are on discord? Anyway I suppose the general message there seems likely, if there's no announcement by the end of this month then yeah I would put money on it being 2022.

Thought just occurred to me, what if there's hurdy gurdy on this?

that'd be cool if the professional recording of Music Box Village ended up as a bonus DVD for the deluxe version or something

There are a couple details I miss from the 2019 version but holy shit they did a lot of cool stuff to it too. They sound super tight. Panda killing it here.

nice, Deakin’s insta story confirming the song is still titled Dragon Slayer and there will be more recordings

Love how tight it sounds, those early live sets lose me at points but this is sick

Sounds grrrrreat. Like Feelsy instrumentation with CHz songwriting/melodies and FBK vocals. Yeah, really reminds me of Animal Collective if anything.

love this. reminds me of some Neu! (e.g. Seeland) with how discretely it develops. or even Talk Talk with its jazz-like lilt. i know that right now this is an affect of the rehearsal space but i hope the LP retains some of the lo fi edge that this recording has. i thought the last EP was over-produced.
