Damn now I wanna play Mario 64 while listening to C Hz

Today's Supernatural would be a pretty great soundtrack for the penguin slide race

Haha, i had this realization about a week ago. I guess I'm so used to AC's lyrical content being vaguely about parenting and assumed it was *father* time, too.

Father Time is a very common/popular concept so I never thought of it the way you guys are talking about. Seems so weird to me. very interesting. :hm:

I felt like an idiot when I realized. Basically I was thinking of the lyrics and wondering why they had nothing to do with fatherhood. Avey just keeps blathering on about time. Then it clicked, three and a half years later.

I just watched the Jimmy Fallon performance of rosie oh. Panda's singing is on point, and it's a great performance, but what the fuck is dave doing?

Nothing. He was super sick. They were supposed to play applesauce before everything happened with him. They ended up cornpilling the Brooklyn show the next day.

this is all true but what I don't get is why he doesn't do anything else? There's a keyboard part that he usually plays in that song but didn't in the fallon vid if I remember correctly. If I am wrong about that sorry/ignore this post, but I just remember watching that performance and thinking even though avey was sick and couldn't sing he could still do something?

I dunno maybe I am just demanding too much/it doesnt really matter he was sick and prolly felt like shit.

They clearly play their songs in a very specific/structured way so I can see how it mightve made more sense for him to just kind of dip out for the fallon show since its a panda heavy song anyway?

I'm pretty sure the keyboard wasnt working. If i remember correctly. I think it happened a couple times on tour for them.

Dave doesn't play his keyboard on Rosie Oh. He stands at his mixer or whatever it is and makes crazy sounds.

he plays that little keyboard line that comes in at :23 in the studio version of the song. Definitely in more recent live shows after Hz came out.

in this one you can clearly see he starts playing that keyboard part at :58 right after panda sings "you had offered up a ride".

Just seems like he could've done it live on fallon too?

Chertz is my favorite Animal Collective album... I think that once the next album comes out more people will come to accept that it is truly great. I feel like they started using techniques similar to their earlier albums again on Chz after a couple of albums of a different sound. Once the next one comes out people will connect them a little better. It amazes me the amount of people that love the early albums but don't think that Chz has some of their finest songs.

I enjoy Chz, but I'm not sure what you mean by techniques similar to their earlier albums. Elaborate pls?

liked it but didnt love it at first. also, the album came around when i was a functioning alcoholic...one of the worst times of my life to be honest...so for a long while, it was hard for me to appreciate an album that had so much negative associations with it.
i fucking love it now though, such a special record...pretty much everything i wanted after mpp/tomboy.
"moonjock", "applesauce", "monkey riches"...shit is just so avey.
"new town burnout" is one of the most unique panda songs...so dark and heavy. love it.
such a strange album even by ac standards. didnt really dig the general lack of space of it but i wouldnt have it any other way now.
not an album that i would play often but when i do i fucking love it...top 5 if not top 4 AC release for me.
