In response to TTG and andthephantom, yes, Homies on vinyl is a perfect record in my book.
I'm pretty uninspired by Defense, especially BECAUSE Never Ending Game has a similar groove and hook but has much more interesting production and melodic work. This song has really good production but doesn't have many left field decisions.
For those old enough: I remember when Lucky 1 came out. I was meh on it until I heard it as the cathartic ending to a perfectly sequenced album. Same thing could happen here I suppose.
To each their own, good stuff is incoming I know! Also you might hate me but I would love to be crunchitized with a VT rip. Not Vampire Tongues, Virginia Tech. Peace and love to all!

Were a lot of people sending you Vampire Tongues? If so that is hilarious generally speaking but not hilarious for you.

Hey. Asked about this on the subreddit and discord but maybe some diehard panda bear solo album lover could answer here.
Does anyone have a HQ vinyl rip of the alternative mix of Tomboy from the 4xLP Boxset?
I saw a comment from Sonic Boom that said the album is mixed differently on the boxset, but PB didn't announce this because he didn't want to fleece the fans into buying it (respectable). Well, I only buy CDs but this wasn't released on CD as far as I can tell. I checked soulseek and the usual suspects but couldn't find it anywhere. Kind of a big commitment for me to buy the box set, get gear to rip myself, just to listen to one album. But Tomboy is amazing so I'm kind of tempted if a hero can't provide. paging the Panda Bear wizard Preakness pls help if you can.

I got you, check my soulseek (and your PMs). Full disclosure, they are ~240 kbps, so if someone else has 320 kbps (Dallou), I'd be interested in those myself.

Woah, I had no idea about that. is the mix noticeably different? better / worse?

I think the mix was improved. Pete can clarify this but IIR the Expanded Edition mixed the vocals and mixed the instrumentals and then added the two together.
I love the Expanded Edition and am only sad it never saw the light on digital. Despite owning the vinyl I do not have a record player anymore, and the vinyl rips we have don't have consistent pitch, which is very noticeable on songs like Drone.
Maybe one day they'll release the Expanded digitally.

Preak, I pm'd you, but same goes for me--i only have mid quality rips of a few of the tracks from the box set, would love an HQ of the whole thing (expanded album included)

this is fascinating--i always took the "expanded edition has a different mix" to be a reference to the single mixes being included in the box set, but you're saying the ACTUAL LP is a new mix, an includes the preakness (presumably in a different mix from the KEEP cassette)?!

Yes, to my knowledge and ears, it's indeed a different mix. The Preakness is very much a different mix than the KEEP cassette.

KEEP sounds like his vocals are sitting around a campfire, EXPANDED has that SB oscillating reverb tail that's straight out of a rocketship

No longer looking for FLACs of the full Tombox. I agree with lhtd (tentatively). It is most definitely a different mix (but not extremely different), and I'd say it is an improvement over the original studio mix. It sounds more crisp, a little bit less lost in the reverb. Overall more lively and percussive. But still very much has the intent and DNA of that Sonic Boom mix. I'd say it's somewhere in between the studio mix and the single mixes in terms of the sound.
This is with the caveat that I have been listening and loving OG Tomboy for about a decade so it's hard to compare. Such a great album, it has now 4 different versions that I appreciate
If you are trying to get these wonderful files for yourself, head over to soulseek and checkout the epic upload by user "Ata". feel free to PM if you're having any issues here or on discord.

I've also put it up on my own soulseek, and I've also uploaded a pdf of my entire collection. if you see something in it that isn't for sale by the band let me know and i'll try to throw it on soulseek.
let's get back to chatting about Defense, Virginia Tech, and Sinister Grift now!

Was really hoping for some Tomboy jams and he pretty much picked the exact 3 songs I would most have liked to hear with a full band setup. Cannot wait for these shows.

yeah, so for the euro tour, that's solo without toro as part of the bill, right? so possibly those will be longer setlists?

Can I have the rip as well? I already have FLACs of the whole boxset but curious if your rip is different from mine.

don't think it got much discussion on here yet but kinda weird panda is sharing a bill with toro? was domino worried he couldn't fill these venues on his own? don't really get the incentive here if its less cash (i assume with the split bill) and they have to lug around a full band setup to share a bill

Its definitely strange. Panda has no trouble filling venues on his own. Maybe he's looking to expand his audience a little bit? Maybe there is financial incentive? I'm not sure, but I definitely wish he was headlining the US tour.

confirmation of Dave on ends meet is really interesting. can't wait to hear how thst one turned out. now just to find out where Brian features on the record. and I'm guessing Josh probably contributes keys in a few places?
the setlist is insane, never would have guessed he's break out never ending game basically ever. Tomboy tracks are sure welcome too. can't wait!!
