sequential circuits has such a cool almost like.. zombies circa o & oracle feeling to it, doesnt it? it didn't stick out as much first few times but now i really love it
also some of noah's coolest lyrics ever imo

Seems like that Japanese site is just a typo. As crosswords is #4, they just put Side B in the wrong spot. Also, there's no way you're fitting three other songs on one side with CTYS

I'm kinda confused in that case (haven't listened to freebird)...
I got the vibe that ctys and tropic of cancer flowed into each other nicely, but I guess they're still separated enough to be on separate sides of a record?

I am having a hard time hearing this record as a whole... there are so many awesoe moments but there are others that are so rough and jagged... everytime i listen to it i want to try to understand it and it just gets better every time. well done. I am so happy. I agree with everyone - best ac related release since mpp

guys. just sitting here listening to mix ticks, thinking about how magical those nights were when this and the EP/announcement dropped and I'm really starting to wish that the freebird didn't happen. I know some of y'all were way ahead of me in saying this, but damn... how sick would this entire experience have been if they continued to mysteriously drop crumbs until january? (( I mean, it's still likely that this will go on to be one of my all time faves, but the experience leading up to the release of this album could have been like.. unparalleled, u feel me?
don't get me wrong.. when I listen to the freebird, I am blown away every time but it's undeniable that some of the magic is gone...
i guess what happened happened though and I'll just shut my mouth and enjoy the best album ever two months early
I used to think this way too when albums I was anticipating freebirded mega early too...the last two Beach House records come to mind.
but you've got it exactly: what happened happened. it could have only ever happened this way...I can't wait to see what PB/PTK/Domino have in store...no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should

I don't think I'm feeling the best-release-since-MPP vibe with tomboy, FBK, and oddsac, and down there in the running, but this and each of those other albums are feeling like an even plane to me.. PBVSGR is doing magical things to my psyche and my outlook as did many of the other releases. it's super special on its own way.. love love love to panda bear

Yeah, they worked great with CTYS flowing into Tropic live, but the album CTYS has a very distinct ending and Tropic has a distinct almost beginning Almost like a restart of the album. And now Tropic flows into Shadow and then Lonely Wanderer like magic.
I'm starting to see this album in 3 act structure. And The Hero's Journey.

Hey gurls.
Nothing's being taken away by the freebird !!
It's only a lil drip ........
Domino have stronger nerve than that ....... All the little details remain ...
.....expect the unexpected ......
Tix mix is only part of the six ....
Yeah - that boys Latin loop is mixed with a vocoder version that slowly morphs into
the pure panda .......
Y'know - I used to have this thing where I felt , on some levels , I denied myself the surprise & wonder of discovering tha panda bear records 'fresh' by working on them .
That it was a trade off ..... I got the joy for sure .....
but by the time it was all done I was in danger of over exposure .....this is super common with bands....
..... You only get to get the 'full hit'
once you've had a chance to have 'forgotten' and can come in fresh ...
But this LP ....
..... We wrestled some tracks that were not playing ball - prince real was in danger of
Being scrapped early on , but we fought it & found what it liked & needed to reach the zone we were aiming for ...
..... No doubts this lp was tough to make at times .... Sometimes crawling inside it to find what wasn't jibeing was treachourous and emotionally zapping ..... But finally.....
.... After busting thru the hard stuff , the songs just started to arrive at the next level , to sit up & stand . To beg And roll over .....
.... And suddenly I realised that everything had coalesced , and was in a place where I wasn't bored or tired or over familiar ....... Every little trick of the light that Noah had splashed thru the record ....
.... every bit of perspective - both forced forward & foreshortened that had been schemed and sewed in all started to interact as one effective elegant simple system ......
And one that is only additive ......
No reductions ......
Magic added , for sure , and much in the eye if the beholder. ....
..... But I am unable to detect anything. 'Taken away ' ......,,even after months & months ...
Noah reported a similar vibe of not tiring of the tracks or the production ....
Our main aim was to put this in a special place.... A goldilox xone .....
I'm happy it's already putting down roots ...
Like wise - back at u guise ! This , with you all , is a fun experience for me too !
I'm sorry it's a weak surrogate for the real deal panda vibe , but ...
Guess what ...... U got it ......
XPetek the unXpetek X
M O O O O OOO OO P P ! ! !
THANK YOU for keeping Principe on there. God, I swear I've had that song in my head for two years....It's hard to replace the correct lyrics with the those I've been mumbling for the past couple of years...

idk if this was obvious to everyone but i onyl realised it today.. pete u were right when u said noah knew exactly where to put the songs. this album isnt just songs abt death/dealing with death etc.. the album itself is the process of dealing with death/the loss of something
sequential circuits - head high unaffected
mr noah - the dog gets bit on the leg
crosswords-denial, protagonist trying to reassure itself
come to ur senses - getting mad at the change - anger
tropic of cancer - finally breaking down
lonely wanderer - in the wake of the break down , hopelessness, was it worthwhile?
principe real - distancing self from the loss, the broken leg
selfish gene - the sudden realisation, the acceptance, its not as bad as u thought, and it will happen again n things will b ok
acid wash - triumphant, past it and stronger from it
im sure im missing a lot but this is just what i understand rn godam this album is magic
I def pick up on this sort of narrative too. Not to say it's a concept album, just that the ideas/themes in the songs flow very well. PK's right, the sequencing is inspired.

Just noticed how the first and last tracks are connected and flow into each other really nice!! Sure it must be deliberate, makes the whole album a beautiful infinite loop.

Someone asked a few pages back "who" the dog in these songs is..It's a PBear song man, the dog is whoever or whatever you associate the song with. Sure, Noah probably wrote it about someone or something in particular, but it's written so it can be easily relatable to each of us.
This dog got bit on the leg....as in someone was hurt in some way
Got a really big chip on the leg...as in this isn't something that can easily be dealt with
Don't want to get out of bed...as in they feel defeated and worthless by what they experienced
Unless it feels justified...is kind of self-explanatory, they need to find something to get them back to how they felt before the chip on the leg.
Kind of cool. Loving everything about this record. Every niche and nook and cranny has been properly addressed and has a very steady resonance throughout the whole piece.

Pete, any insight as to why Panda name-dropped Shadow of the Colossus?
One of the greatest games ever. Was he playing it recently or is it an old fave? Does he have a favourite colossus? The vibe of that game sits so neatly with topic and Lonely Wanderer.

I expect he does ...... You'll have to ask him .....
I think it's a go-to when he gets a little 'me time ' .....
Sick title ..I Love a good idiom .....
......And reffing any of the 7 wonders of the ancient world is pretty sick too ....
And I understand from what I've seen , that game is sweet work . I love the organicity
And textures they used in the beasts ....
Moooooooopppp ! XpK

spoiler because boot avoiders dont wanna see this.
i have spent some serious time with the GR over the past week. noah and you have really made something special. your imagination, hard work, and calm in the face of leakage + internet backseat producers pushes me to put more effort and positive energy into all of the things that occupy my days.
one question - do you and noah ever jam out together to take a break from srs studio work? i wonder what a song made from scratch by the two of you would sound like...
thank you for all of your sharing.

I took this video myself and it came out pretty good...
but the real important performance of jabberwocky/jabawaqy/jabberwoqy/jabawhatever is the ATP recording, ie what clayton posted
