"Tears for Fears returns from what we all thought was extinction, to cover the biggest song in indie. You heard it here first, 'better than the original.'"

Dave Portner of Animal Collective in Rolling Stone's Special Edition on Pink Floyd :
"When we were in high school, um, well, I guess when we were first experimenting with a lot of psychedelics and stuff, I can recall hearing The Piper at the Gates of Dawn and just being blown away by the movements and the stuff that I perceived sound doing as I was hearing it, you know. I'd never really heard a record or music do that before. They opened up the door for just having those kinds of moments in music where you could have a regular pop song go into something like noise, or just completely sound weird for a minute of the song, and then back into the song again. When I was in high school, my girlfriend really liked The Wall. I associate it with just hearing it a lot at her place. There's something really odd about [Waters'] songwriting that's got this really lonely feeling to it. It's really hard to describe, but I feel like that resonated with an angsty high school student."

Well, we're about to finish off the dullest year in AC history (no new solo or band releases for the first time since they starting putting out music). 2014 should be amazing though, with all the solo releases, can't wait for all that to begin!

Seems you've forgotten the utter gamechanger that was the "Monkey Been to Burntown" EP!
But really though, we got the beginnings of new Panda and Avey, that's reason enough for the year to hold some merit

Animal Collective have a pizza named in their honour
The band's tribute slice is served by Two Boots, a hip Stateside pizza chain, who already make a pizza named after Slayer as well as pizzas that pay titular homage to Dr. John and jazzman Charlie Parker. The Animal Collective pizza is topped with tasso ham, chicken, smoked andouille sausage meatballs and pepperoni and it comes on a Sicilian crust, reports Flavorwire.
at first i thought, "if it's an animal pizza- why wouldn't they put sardines or calamari or something from the ocean on it?"
do you think the pizza's creator knew about all the oceanic conservation stuff they've been doing- and decided it would be in bad form to put anything aquatic related on the pizza?

That's pretty ironic (in the Alanis Morisette sense) considering 75% of the band are vegetarians
But oooh, there's one of these in Baltimore. I need to try one of these and report back.
