Do any of those massive “unreleased” AC downloads still exist around here? The ones that Dearest was largely in charge of back in the day?

Been thinking a while about the "dream" setlist and tried even jotting it down on paper like what could be and then it just occured to me now the perfect setlist is a combination from every era which i knew before but now so more than ever so when and if i ever come up with one ill check back here. Until then ...

Someone on reddit said he's "looking into it" after they DMd him about it on twitter. i saw someone said this is a "cashgrab trying to mooch off of someone else's success" or something but i'm pretty sure this is just a case of two people with the same name being accidentally merged

Just broke out the Applesauce single after a couple of years and DAMN.
Crimson hit me like a ton of bricks.
That song is achingly beautiful.

The “when people start talking” bit at the end is one of the best melodies I’ve ever heard I reckon. Not that I listen to Crimson that much. But when I do it always surprises me with how good it is.

Edit: Nvm it’s not so much the melody but the cool high pitched synth thing that plays between the vocal bits.

that song got slightly demo-itis'd for me because in the live version that same high pitched synth y'al mentioned was like some flangey guitar riff that I probably can't even remember now.

but no yeah that is a really good song.

Lmao the same thing happened to Black Dice in 2019 and nobody ever fixed it. There's still some shitty song called "Love Confession" listed as one of their singles on Spotify

I think that's how the first pre-chz chz-era shows ended........it was beautiful

edit: yesss it was rosie oh > crimson, that transition was so clean, damn

chz is the most alt-tracklist fantasizing I do for the lps.

it coulda still ended with rosie oh ---> crimson, like the first live shows.

monkey and new town mighta just been a dope single (I think im in a minority of those basically being the low-point of the lp for me, tho they've grown on me).

then maybe stick honeycomb and Gotham on it. idk where to put amanita. that could replace crimson as the applesauce b-side.

so..

moon jock
ts
wide eyes HERE to break up the avey-chain combo
applesauce
father time
gotham

honeycomb
mercury man
pulleys
rosie oh
crimson

kinda chill. avey heavy and even lighter on panda songs than how it is now, but I mean kinda seems like panda was just trying to drum thru this era. plus that makes rosie more impactful when u get to it.

gotham on this album is a great look tho. that and crimson woulda been a great way for them to chill out and do slower tempos/darker vibes on the LP

and then maybe just skip the non-album single (which is a cool idea and I respect it) and put monkey, new town and amanita on an ep. that's a tight lil ep

and then use the original abbey-only art. I think it was chill. stick the acoustic wide-eyed on that ep (or just replace the LP version With the acoustic version!!) and bam. I just optimized that era

chz is like.... very good. to my ears rn, it sounds sweeter than painters and less burned-out-y than MPP (which was only recently revived for me via ballet slippers.) sounds great. put it on man, its a real ear-snack

Father Time

Today's Supernatural
Rosie Oh

^that's tight, applesauce is a kinda sweet opener. and gotham into new town is a tight dark vibe.

yeah besides kinda monkey, this is my favorite avey songwriting since SJ. apple, mercury, TS and moon jock just dont stop. love 'em. some of DT and Slasher is close to that, but wow, love it.

(of course I must obligatorily mention that their next LP will destroy everything and be the glrious agreed upon masterpiece of their 2nd half career)

I'm gonna take a stab at it:

CENTIPEDE HZ
applesauce
wide eyed
father time
new town burnout
monkey riches
mercury man
pulleys
gotham
honeycomb
amanita

MOONJOCK EP
moonjock
today's supernatural
rosie oh
crimson

Hear hear. First half of “Amanita” is great, but the lil rave-up at the end has always felt to me like AC parodying AC.
