o shit I think I meant All Delighted People actually. Huge (and maybe my favorite?) sufjan song, coming from a fair weather sufjan guy. never listen to him at all, but that song was huge and really sweet and just blipped into blogosphere

its just weird to think of Defeat even being on youtube at any point. I hereby vow to only listen to FLAC thru quality sound system or vinyl thu a proper record player (one day) and hopefully i can follow along with provided lyrics and notation/arrangement on parchment by candlelight

ya why not man. every band gets at least ONE double LP. Friggin do it, spread out and stretch those legs and give us like 90 min of beautiful music (with 2-3 new songs and a surprise like Sundown w/ Cecil)

the All Delighted People EP also had Djohariah which was 17 minutes long

True, amazing EP. But lets not forget one of his most stupendous compositions, Majesty, Snowbird, never even got the studio treatment.

yes! i honestly think this makes sense... Like push people to listen to it by seeming audacious enough to release such a huge one for an advance single, but like, it warrants that! Anyone who tries to listen (and sticks with it) will probably be sold! esp if they were like an older fan who fell out post-mpp maybe. i just want people to hear this thing in general

i'm curious if he's just talking about the January sessions or if they recorded some more during their little break in between July and August tours.

I'm assuming he meant the january sessions because I think he also said something about them playing lots of new stuff just after (or before, not sure)

yea it's been played before strung for i think all the shows on this current leg. i saw them back in july and they did do a similar less structured intro to strung too, so maybe it's a developing song? i called it "the challenge" on my split of the vancouver boot.

One hundred percent agree and said the same about their music for years, so don't quite get why this doesn't translate to capturing this first intuitive version on record. Not trying to be shitty here but this is exactly why I prefer their earliest shows of an era to the albums, in most cases.
