Same in a way! That is the show that made me a fan. I liked a song or two off feels but I was not a huge fan and my Gfs cousin wanted to see them so I went with them. My mind was absolutely blown away by that show. I was sitting there in heaven when my Gf taps me on the shoulder and said they want to go home now (I didnt drive). I was sooooooooo mad. I do not think I have even let that one go hahah

I really didn't like this, it's literally Bees with a 4 on the floor beat thrown over it to make it "dancey". At least the version in Charlottesville was. New Sweet Road is the tits though.
[edit] Listening to this version, seems like it's the original with some added ambience and melodic arpeggios.
DJ Sets:
The Mothlight, 10/23/16 (Avey Tare + Deakin)
The dj set was particularly special. They played straight dancey/electronic type stuff for about 3 hours from their ipads. The Mothlight is a cozy type of venue so everyone was really close to the (tiny) stage, and about an hour into it Avey invited anyone to hop on stage and dance. After this it progressed into just full party mode, people were taking selfies with the boys and cycling all throughout the stage and venue. There was also a couple right next to me in the front, completely hammered, and they were grinding up on each other so hard it was kinda uncomfortable but hilarious at the same time. I don't remember much of what they played specifically but the best parts were when Avey got on the mic and added vocals to random beats. He did this for the intro which was cool, but shortly after he started singing lines from Safer on some insane dance beat. I lost my shit. After the show they were hanging out and I asked Avey about Safer just to confirm, and he just laughed and said yeah. Anyone know if he did this at any of the other DJ sets?

Saw Animal Collective with my wife last night in Portland! It was an incredible show, they sounded so on point and tight! My wife isn't really that big on Animal Collective, but this was her first time seeing them live, and even she was amazed, and kept asking me how in the world do they what they do and make it all work. I was so happy she enjoyed it, also helped that we were on a generous amount of Sass, which was perfect for the show. Pride and fight was so intense live when it climaxes into that big explosion, I was gripping my shorts for my dear life! They played a lot of old stuff, which I was so happy to hear. Also their merch was on game this time. I got a really amazing tank top with the letter A on the front and C on the back entirely made up of a whole medley of different animals. Also got this really beautiful red white and blue psychedelic T-shirt of theres, where the print takes up the whole shirt. I'm so glad that as I get older, I can still enjoy, with joy and wonder, their music. I was worried that the music was something that would only resonate with me when I was young, but I still take so much delight in their beautiful absurdity!

ya when I saw them play in Nola a little over a year ago it was literally a week after the election and Avey shouted all this stuff that addressed it during a transition and now it really bugs me cuz i cant place it in the set. like it might have been after 'the other one'/water curses? or before Pride and Fight? fuck idk, but everyone knew what he was getting at even tho it was like kinda manic
i did this 2 years ago on the last page but fuck it:
full band: (came very close to forcing my older sister to drive me to Houston to see them in 2009 when i was in highschool but lo and behold i didnt and would wait another 3 years...)
-show 1: fall 2012, New Orleans House of Blues
-show 2-4: February 2016, Union Transfer (pw tour night 1), Irving Plaza, NYC (night 1), and Starland Ballroom
-show 5: November 2016, The Civic, New Orleans (1 week after election...)
-show 6-7: and now both nights of the Music Box Village shows in Nola
and seen Deakin at One Eyed Jacks open for Deerhunter in like 2011ish, and Avey + Slasher flicks in 2014 i think. Also a DJ set by Avey/Deak/Geo in nola in '15. if i end up going to levitation, I'll see panda and geo also and then i guess i can die?

Yea those early Tomboy shows seemed very rigid. That p4k set soured my hype for the album. He was playing a late afternoon set, when most people are experiencing the peak of sun fatigue, without backing visuals to a very large, but uninterested crowd. To top it off, it was his birthday, so I imagine he would’ve rather been home celebrating with his family.
Less than two months later I caught him at Governor’s Island which was leagues better. Probably my favorite PB show
And that Down There release party was awesome. It was a free party thrown by Secret Project Robot in Williamsburg. Eric Copeland, Deakin(playing a dj set), Avey, Abby, and I think Angel were all there. Plus Abby provided a dope red velvet cake made in the shape of an alligator

Kool thread. Not as many cool ones as others but I think this is my list:
7/19/2008 - Pitchfork Chicago, IL(my first and probably favorite)
1/22/2009 - Metro Chicago, IL
6/12/2009 - Bonnaroo Manchester, TN (not a great show - 90+ degrees in daytime and they had been touring forever and seemed tired)
8/8/2009 - Lollapalooza Chicago (fave rendition of fireworks I've seen live)
7/15/11 - Pitchfork Chicago, IL (first time seeing Centipede material - also saw Gang Gang Dance at Bottom Lounge afterwards and the AC dudes were there... awesome and fun show)
6/14/2013 - Bonnaroo Manchester, TN (Late night set around 1am - can't get better than that)
10/7/2013 Riveria Chicago, IL
Planned a trip around their 2016 Oakland show but ended up skipping it to see more of the Bay Area. Regrets Sung Tongs in Chicago will be my first AnCo show in 5 years!

Yeah, I missed Brooklyn Steel at the end of the PW tour and I'm really disappointed that I missed the Taste and Sweet Road reworks. If I can afford it at the time, I always buy a ticket for myself + an extra for every AC show because I don't have any friends IRL who are fans but a free ticket is always an incentive to do something. If I have an extra next time, I'll reach out Fovrodi

pretty much every show ruled. standouts were both panda shows, plus the chz madison show. only bummer parts were:
- that orpheum show got cornpilled originally bc of avey's throat issues but its ok it still went on
- the second panda show some chick puked all over the security rail two songs in but it was still an absolute blast of a show
- the guy who opened for avey at the vic seemed super cool at first but continued to croon over the same three chords for the whole night and was very clearly pissed that everyone was getting tired of it
- showed up late to festival of disruption and only caught the end of jon hopkins' set but tangerine reef and a flylo dj set made up for it HARD

This post is with emphasis on the cows show in Austin. It’s april 13th, I awake from my slumber and randomly check out avey’s tour Dates. Yup, he’s playing on my birthday in my home state. Done deal.
The show was great (not sung tongs level but still amazing). I’m in the second row of Antone’s, and in front of me stands the blonde and human version of Hathor (the Egyptian god of love). 5’2/3 (which is important bc I’m also short). Black striped tank top concealed by pink overalls. The outfit is completed with a southwestern handbag and an 80’s era punk rocker haircut. As the vocals climax and Jeremy shreds the fucking drums, our dancing gets a little more aggressive.
You know how when you say something really embarrassing to a group of people and you can’t get it out of your head no matter what?
I can’t get the sensation of this girl grinding against my body and violently thrashing into my chest out of my head. God it felt so right. The only bummer is that her bf was standing to her left and kept glaring in my direction.
Anyway, if you happen to read this and you happen to be the bf in question, I apologize for grinding up on your bae. Very happy for you and I wish your relationship success.
However, if you’re reading this and you’ve often been compared to the Egyptian god of love/or you’re just a cute little anco bunny... please help me quench my fever.

You might be able to extract some of her hair from your discarded clothes if you're lucky. Then you can store it in a baggy and keep it under your pillow so that a part of her is always close to you. You'll also likely have some DNA from the hair, so if the technology comes out to clone people, you can go that route and find the exact clothes she was wearing that fateful night. Options man
