Yeah doods they played the Rev. holy shit. This is the best AC has ever sounded. The crowd was fantastic and got into everything, including the new songs. This is easily the magic that AC has been lacking IMO for quite a while. The boys are back.
I also agree that this is the best they've been for about ten years. I respect how they went with something different for PW and that they transformed the songs into something pretty awesome live but it felt quite one note. This stuff feels much deeper, like everything pre-MPP.
As they get older I sometimes worry that Avey won't be able to do those classic beautiful screams as well as he did as a younger man, glad to see he still very much has it in him at the moment.

I think you can listen to the PW boots and hear that their vocals are just getting crazier not more tame. Everyone loses their strong voice at some point though...

He still sounds so incredible but you can hear the strain in his voice much more than when he was younger. I wonder if they chose these screamy old jams for the mini-tour knowing he can’t scream like that every night on a big tour. I need to hear Rev Green so bad, I hope it stays on the setlist!
This had to be one of the best AC shows I’ve ever seen, the acoustics on the main stage were just incredible. Every time Avey screamed during Grass or Reverend you could almost feel it echoing all around the mountains nearby. And Banshee was so sweet when the audience all sang “poooool”, I’ve seen them about ten times now and had yet to hear those three favorites so it was pretty special for me to hear them all in that setting. Also the new Pulleys midsection is incredible!
Their playing sounded so polished and crisp and professional, the new songs all seem fully formed and there’s so many interesting ideas in there. It’s very cool to see the four of them back to the more traditional rock band set-up. The heavy use of auto tune is gonna take me some getting used to but I’m more ok with it after hearing more of the new stuff which uses it to unusual/interesting effect
I have some video clips of the old songs I can post later, still hoping someone recorded the full set though
