Remember when Avey said it's actually "Am I the dancer" on an NPR interview or something

That interview was rad, where they broke down each track almost

The end of Daily Routine being like a clothesline swaying in the wind and then dropping down a cliff into a beautiful ocean

I think

I have it on my computer and will gladly upload it to media fire. I think I put a link in the mpp thread on the old boards.

Scooter, he says "am I the dancer?" And it blew everyone's mind on here when the interview aired. Some were convinced he was joking/spying on the board because it was the hot topic of the week in ac discussion.

it's really interesting how josh leaving actually inspired/spurred them to write the MPP songs because they needed material right away that they could play. I hadn't really thought about it in those terms exactly before.
like the fact that it actually sped up their process.

Definitely. It is funny thinking back to people claiming that the 3 month long writing session for the first chz era set was rushed when the first mpp set was thrown together in 2 weeks!

i just listened to this one http://www.npr.org/templates/story/stor ... d=99607179 and was curious at about 27 minutes they were saying that there were three songs they recorded during mpp or something but didn't use them for b sides or anything... is that just fbk stuff?

this actually makes so much sense to me, instincts will lead u to better tunez. Once you start questioning yourself and tweaking shit the emotion gets diluted in your work. I don't make music but I feel like it shouldn't be much different than any other artistic process. Get your core down quick when you are inspired, and spend time later supporting it with other elements. Don't fuck with the core. Don't overthink.

Totally agree! I am a songwriter and all of my best, most honest and direct stuff is written in 5 mins.

I'm listening to MPP a lot this week and connecting with the lyrics. My Girls and Daily Routine specifically (I'm having a baby girl next May!)

Listening to this on really good headphones for the first time --- makes a *huge* difference. Crazy. I've listened to it 100+ times before but it's like a completely different experience.

I think the headphone debate is a bit stale. Yes, decent headphone will provide higher quality sound than say laptop speakers or iPod earbuds. However, speakers of the same caliber in most rooms provide just as much sonic detail. Not to mention speakers allow for crossfeed, which can deepen the spatiality of music (especially for a LP like MPP).

A great thing about MPP is the playability. It has the spatiality and low-end to be blasted like a hip hop record on speakers, while still having the textures that make headphone listening so enjoyable.

Funny you say that, I was just listening to Taste the other day and was blown away by how much was going on that I wasn't aware of. Also, +1 to listening on earbuds. I'm in a phase right now where I only want to listen to music on the iPhone speaker. Hearing things in mono makes me really listen to the song rather than nitpick sonic qualities.

The past few times I've listened with the apple EarPods and given my full attention to the album and it's allowed me to really focus on things I never noticed that were far in the mix like the sh-101 bass line during the chorus of Taste. There's also this whirring oscillation sound that happens right before the last refrain of "Am I really all the things that are outside of me" that reminds me of the sounds before Brothersport explodes into it's last section.

what how could you not hear those before??1/1
