Tangerine Reef is a full-length audiovisual album by Animal Collective (Avey Tare, Deakin and Geologist) in collaboration with Coral Morphologic, to commemorate the 2018 International Year of the Reef, to be released Aug 17, 2018 on Domino. Tangerine Reef is a visual tone poem consisting of time-lapse and slow pans across surreal aquascapes of naturally fluorescent coral and cameos by alien-like reef creatures (note: no CGI or artificial enhancement was used in this film). More info at: http://tangerinereef.myanimalhome.net

Watch the music video directed by John McSwain and Coral Morphologic for “Hair Cutter” on Apple Music here: http://apple.co/haircuttervideo

i'm so glad this version of the band is still around, the dark timeline that seemed like it disappeared after swirling around feels. i used to say that ODDSAC was the last real release from "that" band and it's just not true between this and music box. great band

Beautiful track. Love those trembling Avey vocals. Real western vibes off this one. Swear these guys need to make a cowboy movie.

Also "she kept on workin" Safer and Tangerine Reef shared universe confirmed

To people saying TTG, while that's the easiest comparison for sure, Panda did contribute to the eventual release even tho he didn't participate in the performance.

They haven't delivered the good (magic) stuff for a while so only the harcore fans are hyped, plus the music forums aren't what they've used to be

I'm so excited for the film. I wonder if it'll be the full length of the album or a different edit of the music.

I also love that AC is now building a filmography.

Damn the recording is so raw. The synth sounds are stunning. Avey's voice as others have said is beautiful too. Tinkly water drippy noises are very pleasing too, as is the ascending Shepard tone

A double album after one of their most poorly-received albums ever will be interesting, to say the least.

It's not really a "double album". It's only 3 sides on record, side D is an etching. It's around 50 minutes long, same length as most of their albums.

Also do you really thinking Painting With was more poorly received than CHz?

Yes they clarified through dm's on Instagram that this is a studio recording. But it's very much a live take with no overdubs.

Ironically what their original intention was with Centipede! Love seeing it all come back around.
