Why wouldn't we just call it Centipede FM? They had that radio station up for a while to promote the CHZ release. Seems like a cool podcast name too.

Visiting Friends and PODDSAC are my favourites. So good.

My pitch for the first episode would just be, why do you love Animal Collecitve? I think it would be cool to hear some ppl just broadly give their perspective on what makes this band special and what keeps us coming back. Maybe that's too general/open-ended but I think it could serve as a good intro and establish some context before jumping into episodes about specific songs/albums/performances

I also think Visiting Friends is the best name, because it will involve people from the community who have come together primarily because of this band. There's also an Animal Collective song called it.

It's also quite a catchy name without a podcast related pun which can be funny but it's a bit naff these days.

Just haven't had time to edit it yet. Planning on tackling that tonight. Hadn't said anything cause I hadn't edited it yet but now that the cat is out of the bag I have no choice but to do it immediately.

As a fan from all the way back in '06, and still with few actual human beings to physically talk about my favorite band with. I'd love a chance to be a part of this.

Quite a while ago in the middle Centipede Hz era there was a Collected Animals Radio project which collected mini mixtapes from many forum members and combined them to make hour long podcast-esque episodes!

Eventually pudd, along with pudd's roommate, even made a standalone website with chat and images that became available for the premiere of each recording!

With patience I am sure this new project will happen! Maybe it could help to have people each submit their own short recordings, and then meld them together via music sections that happen in between?

I remember the craziness in everyone trying to start the mixes at the same time, not being able to download or stream the large files.

Ethmin do you really have something that's done but not mixed? Or Stan are you not able to save up for a laptop? Look how many people want to participate and listen. Davetheturtle said he can help with editing. I'll offer to help editing and mixing too - I know how to use EQs, compressors, expanders, limiters. Even if it isn't popular, would be a good time.

I've really enjoyed re-reading this thread. Lots of laughs, lots of great ideas.

And on reflection, I definitely think that 'Visiting Friends' is the best name for this.

I've just bought a mini PC as well which will arrive tomorrow so I'll see if that will get me started. Everyone who registered interest for this way back when, you're 100% involved if you want to be. Apologies if you don't post here any more. I'll send some PMs over the next week or so.

Having thought more about Fov's idea that this could be a collective project, I couldn't agree more. I think it should be. So much of my time with Animal Collective has been fundamentally entwined with this forum and this community. Even if it's going through a quieter period (as it tends to when they're not releasing stuff), there's something here I will really miss when it's eventually gone. Maybe this can be a way of breathing some life back into the place, too.

As I say, my life is currently work like an absolute bastard, chill with my wife and take photos. If I don't build some momentum with this now, with the free time of having no social life or contact outside of work and saying thank you to delivery drivers, it's never going to happen.
