Tomorrow is a Bandcamp Friday so all money made from music sold tomorrow goes to the artist. I ripped the YouTube version of Sung Tongs live so I'm more than ready for this.

Excited to be immersed in this later tonight. It’s been how many years since it was announced? Criminy. So many labels announce a record a month, maybe two, out. Domino drives me bonkers.

Hahaha ‘tuh-vin’ that is hilarious. Is Toovin the original spelling? I’ve only ever seen it referred to as Tuvin.
Never really went deep into the bootlegs for this tour aside from the pitchfork show so this is all pretty fresh. I love it! College for some reason is really ticking my brain. I’ve always been a defender of the last three sung tongs but damn they work even better in a live setting.

this sounds sooo good, the live atmosphere adds a lot

i'd start listing highlights but there's too many, so for now i'll say visiting friends with that kick beat really ups the kompakt vibe they were going for with it, love it

With the mixing of Avey on the right and panda on the left it’s probably possible to isolate both of their parts. May mess around with that this weekend

god this sounds so good. this'll be my new definitive sung tongs document going forward

finally an official release of covered in frogs that doesn't suck! panda vocals on prospect hummer and I remember learning how to dive! don't believe the pilot!

13-minute softest voice is something I didn't know I needed

my only minor complaint is that Toovin is at the end instead of opening the record like it opened the live show, that transition into Leaf House was so satisfying

Can't wait to give this a full listen, put on Learning how to Dive earlier just to get a taste and got chills. This feels like peak AC.

I'm halfway through my first listen and it's crazy how the mix reveals parts I originally thought were sung by Avey are actually Panda and vice versa :o

this might shift good lovin outside to be my favorite song off sung tongs, and not whaddit i done. i imagine many people are gonna start loving whaddit too, because they can hear how moving the song is. but the whole point of the song to me is about having trouble communicating how you feel to someone, thus the wah wah wah wahs

Back end of tongs has always been heads only territory. That's a great take on whaddit.

There are no claps on mouth water ! Knew something was missing. The whole crowd doing the claps was such a magical live experience. Shame on you LA

I think they edited out the room mikes by and large. There's of course moments where the audience is heard present but it sounds deliberate in the mix. Although the crowd claps during Mouth are endearing I'm stoked that they minimized crowd noise... the crowd claps on the 2 & 4 of Prospect Hummer were often painfully out of sync.

the encore material is awesome. never knew avey was singing "I'm the cobra / I'm the crow" before in pilot.
tuvin is just spectacular, so mysterious and atmospheric. like someone said above it's supposed to open the set and domino are cowards for not including tuvin and the encore in the physical release

Right?? I've heard a lot of ppl say it feels a bit like emotional whiplash being the closer, first few times I listened to ST I remember feeling the same, but mann that whole back half gets so much hate for no good reason. WID is such a great closer, it's a really nice moment of stillness coming after everything else, and yet it's probably the freakiest song on the album. Really liked reading about that one in particular in the stereogum interview, I remember Dave mentioning something about how a lot of the songs on the album are about spending time with family and friends and WID is like walking home after all of that and going over all of it in your head. That rlly resonated with me, if you've never listened to this song in a context like that you got to. I had this particular instance of listening to that smoking a cigarette on a walk home at night after spending the whole day hanging out with someone and that added a whole other dimension to it for me so it was really cool to hear him describe it in that way all those years later. I'd be glad to say that I neededyaaaaaaa!!

^Haha, nice to read that Dansemanatee.
Whatididone is has a similar come down vibe for me, or maybe the day after a party or psychedelic trip where you're kinda sad all the energy and magic is gone. Cool way to end an album. I like the somber/simple AC songs a lot (No more running, KIndle Song, etc..) Some of the rhythmic cut up parts on WID remind me of The Books' Lemon of Pink album. I feel that might be a sound of that era/laptop editing type of thing. Can't wait to get this record in the mail!

I’m waiting for my life to calm down a bit so I can smoke up and spend a night listening. I’m beyond stoked. I saw them both at Pitchfork (on my birthday!!!) and when they came back to NYC on the tour. Not to sound like a total druggie but that second time I had taken a tab with my friend Rikki and it hit me just as the murals came down during the opening of Leaf House. I felt like I left my body, it was possibly the best performance of theirs I think I’ve ever seen. The venue was a Broadway theater I think. At one point before the show my friend Rikki and I went to get a glass of wine and the bartender poured it and then was like “that will be $40 each.” We were like um what?? No nvm that’s crazy expensive. He responded by rolling his eyes and saying “welcome to New York kids.” We were like wtf we live here! And also we’re in our 30s lol I’ve got fucking crow’s feet. Fun dumb story from the best concert I’ve ever seen.

After a bit of time to digest and relisten this has to be their best official live release.

Agreed. Think I'll still go back to 9:30 more just because I've listened the fuck out of the Pitchfork version but yeah it doesn't place a foot wrong imo. Wish we could have a full Skiffs tour record with ALL the full band reinterpretations of oldies.
