I've had this and the Spirit CD both tucked away in a plastic sleeve for the last few months, if I ever want to listen to it I just throw on the record

I wish I had a record player so I could buy AC Vinyl, sorry for being off topic, but it hurts.
Overall, I'd give Danse a 7.5 out of 10. I kind of wish that the production was at a quality of their newer albums because I'm not sure if I would think more or less of the album as a whole. Favorite song is In the Singing Box, a very underrated song in my opinion. It has a closing song "feel" about it much like other great Animal Collective songs that happen to be last on an album.

Blast Danse is best Danse.
As to the question about production, I meant it more as a what if thing, because I like the way how the production sounds on a lot of songs but then there are a couple where I listened to the live version (Essplode/Lablakely), and I like the way those sound more. I mean, it would just be really neat experience to see how each song works with a more refined sound.

my room has pretty good sound-proofing. although it is right above my mom's tv room, so when i play black dice the crazy low bass just goes right down to her

I wouldn't change the production at all, it's a massive part of what gives it that unique and otherworldly feel.

In the Singing Box feels a bit like a sequel to Alvin Row to me, in that both have a false ending and then proceed to ramp it up with an even better ending than what came before.

The second half of the song sounds like elevator music ... on acid.

yeah from the insert in danse. theres a panda, geo, and avey with a leaf in his hair. i figure id have to break it up.. otherwise it would be too small.
or i could put the whole thing on my chest just under the clavicle.. yeah, thatll get the ladies going. band tattoos r so badass

i think dm is less about thoughts and more about instincts. actually its just a field recording of a bionic manatee swimming through a sewer. but they sure passed it off as good music. genius.

I don't like the strange mastering on both Spirit on Danse. It feels like it's straining my ears. The Living Toys is probably my favorite song, but I prefer Jimmy Raven ( version on Animal Crack Box ) over the version on Danse Manatee. Also, I think it sounds much better over speakers rather than headphones.

agreed
i feel like the reason for its therapeutic effect on me is that it keeps me from thinking distinct thoughts and kind of brings me back to having childlike instinctive urges to yell really loud and hit things and throw stuff that will break and skip around a big empty room
