Sorry for the wait folks, here's the full set from Portland ME:

We're still gonna get a matrix going but the band simply put on too good of a set to deprive it from y'all any longer :)

from snippets of the central park show on socials, feels like Soul Capturer is finally unfurling its wings, sounding like a real song

It really was. There were vertical 'elements (?)' that came through that gave it some new legs. Definitely catches that delirium-induced no-wavey transcendental psychosis

Central Park was great, I think I enjoyed the March setlists more but it's hard to say it wasn't a great show. Any issues I can think of are me being kind of nitpicky, I still don't totally get Magicians even though I like it in theory but the opening set of songs was amazing. Chores was like 10 minutes long? And the Car Keys intro jamming continues to be one of the most exciting things they're doing now. Screens->Flowers was really the only lowpoint for me. Screens is beautiful but is soooo slow and Flowers felt kind of lazy, it hit back in 19 but they gotta swap that one out. Strung continues to surprise me with how much I like it when I'm listening vs. how much I think I don't really like it when I'm not.

The encore was as good as people have said. Purple Bottle was awesome as always but Wide Eyed really blew my mind. It's never been one of my favorites but goddamn this new version is unreal and the weather seemed to be perfectly in sync with the energy of the song. It started raining when they came out for the encore but it picked up and got really windy during Wide Eyed and it just felt like it was building and building and I kind of wanted it to go on forever. It felt like triumphant after they made it through the rest of the set without rain. It was amazing to see the band look out as it started to storm and just have smiles on their faces. My friend recorded from our pretty good spot, should be coming soon.

Ah totally forgot to mention this. This song has blossomed into maybe one of the best of the bunch. There's a much fuller sounding backing track thing that give it a kind of groove? Still guitar drone heavy but its hard to think of another way to describe it. The hurdy gurdy is less prominent as it kind of blends in with whatever new thing is happening. Vocal melody is pretty similar to March but the whole thing just sound so much fuller.

I agree with your point about strung, it's kind of uncanny, right? I can't figure out what that is.
really interesting thoughts and descriptions, thank you! super excited to hear this show now

saw them in New Haven last night and was somewhat disappointed, not a great set list and performance was really uneven. The guys seemed out of sync at times rhythmically and Deakin's set up was too high in the mix imo. Bluish does not seem to translate well to their current setup--it was awkward and lacked energy. Wide Eyed was a real highlight--I wasn't expecting this middle of the road song to be so good live, but they picked the perfect arrangement for it and it was real nice. Rev Green really brought the AC energy of yore, and I just wish a whole set could sustain that beautiful tension like the old days. Seen them now 4 times this year. The Boston show in March was my highlight of this cycle--great performance combined with killer set list, and great sound at the venue.

I need to find a recording of this newer Soul Capturer. I def noticed the lyrics solidifying and being better than ever in July but I actually distinctly remember thinking the triple guitar dronie-ness actually sounded a lil... busted? Like something kinda seemed off a lil honestly when I heard it in July.

So count me intrigued

Really glad you liked it! I did some mastering, mostly EQ and compression, but I honestly just lucked out. When I plugged my H1 into my friend's car aux the morning after the concert to hear the raw files, we were both geniunely shocked at the quality, given we did not get good placement for recording lol.

I agree Deakin was in peak form the entire night. Stride Rite seriously just keeps getting better.

very good news for those who want to hear soul capture / the rest of the show

When they played it at central park I was like what is this new incredible version? and my friend was like what are you talking about its the same. glad to year you all think its different too. can someone articulate what theyre doing differently? it felt faster, poppier, surfier.

There’s a new synth(?) backing in the beginning/main section that kind of gives it a real poppy feel like you said. It fleshes it out and adds more to latch onto beyond guitars/ single drum beat/gurdy and works really well with the vocal melody. Best way I can describe it is it just feels more full and finished. It’s not like a complete overhaul at all I don’t want to get anyones hopes up but for people who have been following that songs progression since it dropped on that blast broadcast I think it’s kind of a “woah this has come so far” kinda moment. At least that’s how I felt the other night

my main takeaway from central park was that Soul Capturer is the most dub/reggae track I've ever heard from the band outside of their solo projects. loving what it's becoming.

again haven't heard the full thing yet, but for me I just noticed that you can really hear the guitar strums now, and it's kind of akin to winters love

yeah, I think a lot of it had to do with the visuals too-- I was staring at the TV-static-like overlay in the back as it was building up and it felt like my head was going to explode; I'm never gonna forget that bliss once it got to the third section. Maybe the shrooms contributed to that effect xd; there was a dude vibing really hard in front of my friend and I, and I've never seen anybody move that hard to the slowest songs hahaha. God bless you whoever you are.

his new high notes in the Gem and I chorus are fucking awesome

It's very funny that this is kinda how he started getting weird with it in the second Painting With tour. He gets bored playing the album version and starts fucking around.

Wow, this boot is amazing. Thank you so much. Going to these shows and having them be documented like this is a privilege. Bluish's ending... Unreal how they do this shit. 2 things about new york:

1. I carried my section for the Ay in Chores (dw about it)
2. The way they go up and down the octave to mimic the screaming sample in Purple bottle is awesome and when I realized what there were doing the rain was already hitting my head and I was smiling .Fucking best band of the year all years

Genie's is so brilliantly slow. Listening to it like forces you into a lower gear and it feels good

Now to download this boot, thanks so much nyctaper!

Friend posted his recording of Central Park on Archive. We had a pretty great spot slightly off center about 30ish feet into the crowd. Sounds great to me. We were right next to some guys who kept yelling the names of the band members and talking a good amount but luckily most of that did not make it into the recording. Also including a folder here with the lossless files incase anyone wants to take a crack at polishing this up a bit.

I think the super slow moments are my favourite parts of all these shows. Chores middle section has been stretched so far now, screens, kings, wgb outro, and defeat of course. Genie's too though that's slow in a groovier way. All of these exemplify that 'beautiful tension' jerry wonder mentioned.
Only slow song that doesn't always land for me is magicians. Second half feels very stop-start most of the time, but some shows it lands real nice.

Also the intro to broke zodiac in that omaha show is awesome, have they been doing that a lot? new to me

also also how lucky are we they're playing nearly 2hrs most nights!! sad this leg of the tour is over, but might mean an announcement of new stuff soon
