Yup . Meta is better .
And it came from a dream .....
I had an idea . To make short loops from the intros of old school 50s , 60s & 70s jams that juice me immediately in the first chords . But I thought Noah maybe might not dig it ....I was’nt sure .
Anyway , i made them ( it was lockdown & I was semi house bound ) and gave him them to see if he dug any .
Next thing he sends me a fully arranged song written over one of the jams . Just vocals . The first one was amazing straight off .... stunning in fact ...and every couple of weeks or so he’d do another ..... and each getting better . Showing off in the most amazing way . Singing deep at times like never before & soaring often ... it was impressive to behold .
We realised it was strong medicine and we knew we needed to share It...
We decided to flesh them out . It was a weird time & we were both crushed by events , but we sort of soldiered on ...throwing down first takes of bass & keys & percussion , just as place holders initially , but soon realised everything was laying down perfect .....almost felt guided ....was quite weird ....I brought in a new synth (The Arturia MicroFreak ) . We fired it up & preset one was already putty in his hands . I’m not a preset guy either , but when you feel the force , if you’re smart , you just get onboard regardless .
It was a strange lp to make ... but it’s a funny whirled .....sometimes the best things happen when all you have is a good frame of mind & the openness to just see what happens...no expectations .
I always feel like my opinions sound like hype , because i love Noah & his music . I felt at times he was maybe indulging me during this ......least it just seemed too good to be true ...
I hope u folks get as much joy from it as I been having with it . We’re psyched to share it . Please take it easy out there .

Haha funny that you mention the first preset on the MicroFreak. When I first bought one and was checking out the presets that was instantly my favorite one. Can't wait for the record!

Preset two is pretty suite too : ) I dig that synth . Taste’s a bit like EDP wasp / OSCar vibes ....

We did most of it together . Except some vocal stuff . I live 30 mins away from Lisbon , so was a lockdown lift to truck into Campo D’Ourique to Noah's spot or he would come out here to the mountain in Sintra .
I noticed over the years that the best songs just make their own energy field & it’s kind of fait complis ...everything just fits like gears in a machine that were meant to work together to ratio up the vibe . That’s why we picked those loops .... Hope it’s goodtimes there xp

Song for Ariel into Danger from the Madrid set is glorious. Ends meet was the immediate favourite, but Danger took over quickly. The melodies are so great. The thump thump. The cooing at the end. Oh!

Yeah... He said it would be called "Dang" or "Danger." Should be interesting to see if any other Madrid songs are on this, as far as I remember SB only confirmed the one.

the microfreak is so good petekxx. wavetable number 6 if u know what i mean. i love cyc env modulation too. or getting the lfo and the cyc env to cross paths too, like multiple swell directions in the ocean crossing paths and making all these beautiful unique waves. do u wanna swap some patches?

Yeah - the post oscillator section is like the EDP Wasp - the looping env option was a Wasp thing . The modulation matrix implementation is great too .

Danger has some modified patches from that little MicroFreak guy too . Actually , Noah was bummed w that at Madrid . He forgot his lyric sheet & i think he only remembered one verse .....so expect an upgrade there . Musically though , the version/arrangement is totally different ....
On the Reset version he takes us to a shady street in spanish town . All mariachi static & heat haze emotions . It’s not everyones pick of the litter , but it’s been a big favourite of mine since day one . Was charmed from the get go , that one ..... sounds like a future standard ....deep powers ... and deep voices ...something for the weakened ...

Fuck, that madrid set is blessed. So Love of my life is actually a kind of reworked version of a song we never heard... so sick. I SO EXCITED. But cant you see what im doing to me line will; prob sound good under any context... THIS RECORD IS GONNA BE SO SICK i love the concepts behind it and the songs themselves are just going to SLAP

I'm so excited for a summer album because I'll go on a hike when it come out and smoke a joint and listen to it and feel the hot summer sun and warm breeze and it's going to rock so fucking hard.

ive got some good patches i reckon ive made out of the cycenv especially effecting wavetable stuff............... seeing the way(theway) u patch it would be very helpful for me honestly.. i think u can upload ur patches somehow if u connect via usb.. all g if thats not ur vybe. u rek getting the behringer remake of wasp is worth it 4 modulation exploration? also obv psyched 4 thisalbum
