Holy wow. A vid with (no offense) fairly patchy sound quality and all the songs sound absolutely fucking wild.

It would be cool if both AV and PB combined their solo sounds into the next AC record. Like maybe combine pandas beats with aveys strange synth rock sound and add some sweet sampling like that nutso saxophone PB track and that would be a cool ass record.

I got so much nostalgia, I was just looking at old music files and I found old 2010 Tomboy live songs in their earliest stages, however I just burst out laughing when I read that one of the songs was called: Take my wife.

I'm guessing that'd be "Tomboy"?

Haha, I remember that. Were any of the others funny? I don't have mine tagged as fan titles anymore.

"Take My Wife"
"Cow Tiiiiiiiits"

There's also: A Day Ago (The preakness) , A thing or two (Benfica), Destroyed (Friendship Bracelet). but those aren't as funny. And btw I always thought Panda said "No you can't Count on me", it´s better that way

Like, I miss that voice from his self-titled

Well I'm not trying to say i didn't like Tomboy, i think it was a great album, but the new stuff sounds Phenonemal and a step above it, although that's probably because i'm really into stuff with cool samples.

i actually havent even given the new material a listen yet
i wasnt directing that at you either, it just seemed like a lot of people were saying stuff expressing distaste for tomboy above and in the previous pages but that's their right of course :)

i just never realized there was so much dissatisfaction with it on here

seriously, all these haters need to take a long hard look in the mirror lol. tomboy's easily my favorite ac release, his songwriting's absolutely never been better than it is there.

right now i don't think the new stuff is better than the tomboy material at all, but i definitely see the potential in it. i'm very excited for the next show.

Tomboy can't be the best thing ever in a world where Person Pitch exists.

My gripe with Tomboy was that it's very "samey." It fits together very nicely as a whole but it's like he did a series of paintings with the same two or three colors. This new material is varied and, although he's still figuring things out, it seems like he's doing some new stuff with his voice that I haven't heard from him before. It's obviously way too early to say which is better, though.

my presumption was( and I was almost sure) that Tomboy would become my favourite PB/AC/Any other band/ album ever. but i was slightly dissapointed by it when it came out. and that's because of the production. when I listen to the boots I still get a sad feeling of something that could have been.... still can...........\

btw. I was so hyped about the song Tomboy, now I think it's the worst. but i still feel that vibes from the boots.

Hey didn't he say that he wanted to release this new album before the end of this year?
Even if it does get delayed like Tomboy, we'd still be looking at the first half of 2014, with singles by the end of 2013 right?

but what did you think about the singles that he released before? you think they are better than the ones on the record? because i also feel a little let down by the production but at the same time i think they where a good improvement to what noah was doing alone

very true. I should've said that I was already dissapointed at the (studio) single versions, because I was. I dont know how to explain what I expected though. well, just a better use of sound, and I think that's quite weird because I fell in love with AC because of their use of sounds, but for example, I almost get pissed off when I hear the sound of the "claps" on Last Night At The Jetty, that melody on that track is so good, but gets ruined by the production. and the sound of the high notes of Drone. and I truly think that could've been one of his best songs, Benfica is still a great song but I thought it would be pure bliss. now I just keep thinking: "I hoped there would be more of that "plungulung-sounds" and sounds of the crowd, like in the boots, and there are too much pandas here. "

Slow Motion stayed great, and I do love the production of Scheherezade. Single version Alsatian Darn> LP version

i'm just bummed they didn't give it the time it needed! i know sonic and panda both agreed that a few of the single versions were superior to the sonic boom tracks (and vice versa). so the plan was to do a mix of each and have more transitions similar to the live stuff. its a shame that didnt happen!

and god that reverb. TOO MUCH REVERB!!!!!!

I don't know if it's the overwhelming reverb or the way they were EQ'd or whatever, but the vocals on Tomboy sound like they were recorded through his laptop's built-in microphone on the opposite end of a subway station. Listening to the instrumentals from the box set, I think the weird digital muddiness of the guitar & percussion wouldn't bother me if the vocals were handled in a different way.

For the record, if not for the production, Tomboy would be on par with Person Pitch for me. Jetty, Alsatian Darn, Afterburner, and the single version of Surfer's Hymn already bring it pretty close on their own.

As for the new album, I'm going to hold judgement until a decent bootleg comes out, but I hope at least one Chamillionaire cover makes it to the studio.

Well The Avalanches only got s few samples rejected out of the thousands they've used so I think he'll be right with clearing all of them.
