Great job, Fovrodi. Only thing I can't quite get on board with is Walker as a closer but I also sorta think... this album doesn't have a standout closer? To me, Defeat and Genie's are the closers of the era and they didn't manage to get either on this thing so it feels a bit open-ended or possibly inconclusive in a way.

Revisited TS after a long time away. It sounds even better to my ears now. There isn't a track I want to skip.
Grateful for this LP.

Revisiting this now after overplaying Defeat a bit today.
Fuck I love this album. It feels so homely and lush. Like I've set up my home just how I want it and its such a welcoming and beautiful space to be in.

I love this album too. They just went for straight beauty on most of these songs and I love it. I think TS2 is shaping up to be its more ambitious brother but this album will have real staying power, because the songs are so good and the aesthetic is so soothing

With so much talk over the last 18 months about how they weren't able to record this one with the live in-person dynamics, it would be cool to put together a Live Skiffs version based on the best boots for each track. Same order as the LP.

Have you seen my ‘Blast Skiffs’ version on YouTube?
Same thing but from the Blast sessions so just missing Strung.

Just listened to time skiffs and it still sounds as good as when it came out if not even better, but I finally get why a lot of people aren’t a fan of the track listing. Dragon slayer->strung works so well for me but walker and cherokee feel like they move at too similar a pace to be next to each other. We go back is also just such a weird pic for the penultimate track, should have been passer-by

Has anyone here heard the Japanese exclusive bonus track live version of Car Keys that comes on that edition of the CD? I’d love to hear that performance in HQ

It still burns that one of the best anco demos of all time (passerby) became the worst song on its album (passer-by)

the Henry Miller boot is my go to 2019 boot, very high quality recording and minimal crowd noise. I just wish it had 2019 Dragon Slayer/Shine as well, but Meow Wolf satisfies that craving suitably

Beginning:Middle:End::Prester John:Royal & Desire:Defeat gives it a cool balance, may change when all of it's out. I previously didn't think the split eras could mix, really think Defeat is gonna be the glue

3. Gem and I
4. Dragon Slayer
5. Broke Zodiac
6. King’s Walk

Man listening to blast skiffs here really reminds me of the demoitis i felt when i heard studio car keys, did end up really liking the studio version but i so love the way it slips into the groove live, could have benefitted from a more protracted intro

gotta say, soul capturer and defeat having a fairly different production style and energy has made me appreciate skiffs a ton more. i feel like without the weight of uncertainty regarding when/if songs like defeat, magicians, genie's etc were coming, this album can now be solidly its own unique thing. I always really loved it but just listening back today made me appreciate certain things in its production that i might have criticized previously. I like that it's low-key, often relaxed, and slightly at a distance. it's like a birdseye view of the era, whereas IIN is gonna be the nitty gritty

I tried this out and it might have ruined the original for me. love the pacing here, really enjoyed walker as a Derek-esque lift at the end (no shade to R&D, which is a great closer for its own reasons)

Yeah, Fov's tracklisting really freshened this one up for me. I think it flows way better. I've also mentioned the odd sequencing of the ambient coda of PJ then *pause* then a separate ambient intro to SWE. I can't see how that works on any conceptual or musical level. I can accept that some people may like it or get used to it but I can't even see how it happened. I also don't even see why SWE needs an ambient intro. It adds nothing to an already long song and doesn't even set the tone. If it's there to give contrast to the bouncy opening when the song kicks in, well, again, the outro to PJ works perfectly for that. It's a decision I simply don't understand and it feels like a goof.

Yeah I mean I prefer the Strung intro much more than the Prester outro but completely agree. Tbh besides strung all of the ambient interludes that are tacked on are pretty useless and don’t do anything for me.

No way! Walker outro add on is rad! Love the way the Cherokee outro works too.
Agree that the PJ one is definitely the least engaging of the bunch though.

I kinda know what you mean in terms of there being a really long floaty instrumental passage between Prester and SWE. But, i think the intro to SWE is super crucial to the immediate hit of music. The tempo change from the bendy dreamy guitars into the fast twangy guitars is super cool. So I'd vote to cut out the Prester outro and long live the SWE intro. Honestly, I could never really get into Prester John, and skip it most of the times.
But while i'm on my pedestal, the hollering ending of SWE is kinda whack. I'm like whyyyyy isn't there more exciting drumming during this part. It feels disparately needing something to spice it up from the repetition. But this might be cuz I don't connect with that melody at all, so it sounds extra long.
Also Walker outro is BEAUTIFUL. It sounds like avey and panda singing two different voice memos in their phones and mixing them together. It sounds hella intimate, like they're sharing a page from their diaries.
